Sequels Hypothetical: a Dazzler spin off

Yes it is. A musical superhero film? Yes. La La Land did well mostly because of the awards hype, had it been a bad or an average movie, it wouldn't earn that much.

WhileBeauty and the Beast is a film based on a popular animated fairy tale movie.

And just because Dazzler is a popstar, it doesn't mean her film would be a musical.

That would be the most ridiculous thing. A film about a pop star with no music in it.

That's like having Flashdance or Dirty Dancing with no actual dancing in it.

Since FOX are currently experimenting with their x universe, I think a Dazzler film is possible. I think It will be more Pitch Perfect than Lala Land.

I do not.

Dazzler could be a silent film. She could promote the silent disco craze. We could have a film where all the actors mime. We wouldn't even have subtitles but would just have to follow along.

Agreed. It would just feel like something mediocre. A musical comic movie is a chance to really make people notice.

A non musical Dazzler would probably have the same reception as X-Men origins Wolverine whereas a musical version could have the same kind of reception as Deadpool.

It depends on the creative team. If it was up to me. I'd just introduce Dazzler in a X-Men team film like X-Women and give her a decent sized role. Solo X-Men adventures just don't have the same appeal for me compare to X-Men team adventures.

Dazzler was created specifically for two reasons a Album & a Movie. Hopefully this is the start of that!

Janelle is a very eccentric artist she doesnt only do one genre, she is a singer not strictly pop. I love her and I think if they choose to change the race she would be a great fit and she is a good actress. I thought Allison was a disco singer though in this timeframe not a pop star so Janelle would actually be a good choice. I suggest you check out her catalogue.

When they racebend I'm fine with it but I prefer to cast minorities in their proper roles since X-MEN has so many.


But Dazzler should be Caucasian. A black actress doesnt deserve the hateful vitriol she'd received from white fans.

They have so many but most of them arent even being used. They are changing the race to Domino. Dazzlers race doesnt define her so I dont see anything wrong if they make her black,white,hispanic or anything else if they stick to the core of what she is. Idc what her race is. Monet, Frenzy, & Shard soooo many others are sitting on the bench waiting to kick ass. I don't get upset about it because I like the white X-MEN as much as the minorities but come on it's like they don't even want to use the non whites.

I wish they'd stop referencing MLK/X if they won't do better.

Why are they bubbling over Moonstar and Sunspot, I thought both were picked as race appropriate, ive heard some minor complaints about Sunspot not being Afro Brazilian but not much at all. Also they didnt race swap them so the situations are different. Monet would be cool to see onscreen, not really interested in the other two. The main cast for the movies isnt really that diverse, thats why I wanted to see Jubes back fingers still crossed for that reveal.

Ohk I didnt know the specifics, its sad Hollywood still has a fear of actual color another reason why im so excited for the Black Panther movie but thats another subject.

I've heard some of her songs. She's neither disco nor pop.

And big no to changing Dazzler's race. Again, they should be faithful to what the character looks like in the comics.

I would say that Dazzler's race is important to the visual. Because she was a being of light and energy, everything about her was drawn to reflect that - a white suit, light hair, light skin etc. Even all the disco lights and strobes fitted in with that. She was a dazzling brilliant white light - hence the name Dazzler.

Is Janelle Monae the one with these deliberately odd pronunciations in her words? You mentioned she was eccentric.

I'd rather they stuck to the original vision of Dazzler. I wanted to see that movie that they had planned. Turning her into someone else seems like it would just be a different character with the same powers.

They should definitely get a proper singer for this though who could simultaneously release an album and singles. It would be great if even the album artwork had the singer dressed up as Dazzler and it looked like a comic cover.

I don't know if Fox have the creative vision to make a musical movie though. If they did, it would be different to anything they've done so far and as much of a stand out as Deadpool is from the rest of their film catalogue. I see what is more likely is that Dazzler would just be a side character in a movie who barely stands out, much like others in previous X-Men movies.

Also, I don't think Alison Blaire is just a disco singer. Her face paint when she originally appeared seemed to be based on Kiss, which was far more in the glam rock mould. I would say Dazzler is a pop star (which encompasses a broad range of genres). That was what she was conceived as originally.
