Sequels Hypothetical: a Dazzler spin off

I really want a Dazzler movie now. We've gotten an X-Men comedy, an X-Men western, we're getting a horror movie, and now a space opera.

Time for an X-Men MUSICAL. Keep it tongue-in-cheek and call it DAZZLER: THE MOVIE, like the old comic.

So she's not even in the running at all or even in any kind of discussions?

I would say that Dazzler's race is important to the visual. Because she was a being of light and energy, everything about her was drawn to reflect that - a white suit, light hair, light skin etc. Even all the disco lights and strobes fitted in with that. She was a dazzling brilliant white light - hence the name Dazzler.

Is Janelle Monae the one with these deliberately odd pronunciations in her words? You mentioned she was eccentric.

I'd rather they stuck to the original vision of Dazzler. I wanted to see that movie that they had planned. Turning her into someone else seems like it would just be a different character with the same powers.

They should definitely get a proper singer for this though who could simultaneously release an album and singles. It would be great if even the album artwork had the singer dressed up as Dazzler and it looked like a comic cover.

I don't know if Fox have the creative vision to make a musical movie though. If they did, it would be different to anything they've done so far and as much of a stand out as Deadpool is from the rest of their film catalogue. I see what is more likely is that Dazzler would just be a side character in a movie who barely stands out, much like others in previous X-Men movies.

Also, I don't think Alison Blaire is just a disco singer. Her face paint when she originally appeared seemed to be based on Kiss, which was far more in the glam rock mould. I would say Dazzler is a pop star (which encompasses a broad range of genres). That was what she was conceived as originally.
She doesnt have to be white to be a bright light, either or though I didnt say she had to have the part just I thought it was a good choice because I like Janelle Monae. I said Janelle was eccentric because her music doesnt follow a trend its different and fun. They will do what they want anyway. Idk who is in the running for the role all we got was a description of what they wanted and assumed it was Dazzler it still relatively early so im not sure who is in the running. I think it would be neat but its something I just dont see being a massive hit, musicals sale but not always it is a risky move and not many people are asking for a Dazzler musical though it would be nice and different. Dazzler is a pop star yes I agree and pop stars vary on the spectrum with race its not just one. I would love to see Dazzler appear in a movie, I think her powers are neat and it would be something different. Who would you want in the role, Id like Natalie Dormer in the role as a pop singer with the rocker edge almost like the ultimate version but idk if she can actually sing as well.

Definitely don't want Natalie Dormer. She should play a villainess.

I'm not sure who I'd want, because you'd have to balance it with both being a great singer and being able to act, but perhaps more emphasis on the singing. I would say they should get a legitimate pop star who can act rather than an actress who can sing, just so that if they have cross promotion with the album and soundtrack, it would look like a proper singer releasing it. I don't want to be buying any Natalie Dormer albums.

I can't think off the top of my head who are the modern young pop stars. I'd say they should get someone who is like a young Britney Spears in terms of pop star status, charisma and even looks, but with a great range and versatility. Who is like that these days?

JoJo is a relatively young singer who has a background in acting as well, she could work. She is an amazing singer. Lol to the bolded, I think she would make a great villaness as well. Brit Brit doesnt look to hot nowadays she looks like she has been through it, but in her prime yea.

She can sing & act + fits the age range of the casting call

Isn't JoJo from about 10 years ago? I remember her then when she was young. She probably is too old for what they would want now. I think when you start getting in your late 20s or 30s you probably want your music to appeal to an older audience, whereas if you're very early 20s or late teens, then you'd be keen for teen appeal.

Yea JoJo is still in her 20s. I wouldnt really want a Dazzler who just appeals to tweens thats a young audience. I think vast appeal is important, she fits in with the ages of the cast but she just isnt a squeeky clean disney star. She is very relevant and as I said she sings as well as having a acting background. It just depends what the company wants, whether they have her as a disco singer, pop singer who appeals to tweens or a pop singer with an older audience, rock edge. I dont think it would work if they use the storyline from the comics of her playing in that grungy club they will have to mature her a bit not being a teeny bopper. Me personally I want pop with the rock edge to it like a P!nk vibe. Thats why I suggested who I did, but frankly its all up in the air with what they actually decide to do with the character. We will find out more info further along.

Gee there's a lot here that makes me think people have forgotten what the xmen are all about.

1. It's only about talent not racial purity
2. Black women can have a beautiful glow about them which Janelle definitely has. It's not like white women are the only ones with a glow
3. Janelle is a talented actress and amazing singer

You can say you don't want her for the role because you had someone else in mind but making it a race thing especially based on stereotypes is nuts. Here of all places

Sometimes the backlash isn't worth it IMO. Especially with this franchise that has so much dislike outside of hardcore fans

A Dazzler movie... I'll pass. Fox should just put their best effort to make the be st X-Men team movies instead of another spin off.

Love Dove Cameron. She's be great.

She looks super young like 17-18.

She can't still be that age because she was around that age in her Disney sitcom and that was a few years back. That must be an old pic.

im not saying thats her actual age, just that in that pic she looks very young to young id like to see Dazzler if she is that young. Idk how old she is but I did see some current stuff of her and I think she could pull a nice Emma Frost or the Stepford Cuckoos. If she is actually in her 20s then she would be a great Dazzler as well, she is a very pretty girl and seemingly the right age.

Dove just played 16-year-old Amber Von Tussle in Hairspray Live a few months ago. She was brilliant.

It's the little things that we should be thankful for: I'm thankful Brett Ratner and Kinberg/Penn didn't have Dazzler appear in TLS like they planned to.

Well, Kinberg and co were going to stuff a lot more characters into TLS, including Scarlet Witch, Omega Red, Caliban, Quicksilver, Stacey X and Gambit. Kinberg cut Nightcrawler because he couldn't find a useful role for him in the script, though some say he's not a fan of Kurt anyway.

Dania Ramirez ended up being cast as Callisto... and then Ratner cut Caliban and Quicksilver but added their powers to Callisto to try to streamline the bloated script.

Stuffing in characters left, right and centre is one of the bad habits of this franchise in general.

So who knows what we have in store in Dark Phoenix.

IIRC the little blurb in The Vancouver Sun...or was it The Province (this was before Twitter) that mentioned model Omahyra Mota was in town for a role in Brett Ratner's film did hint that her character was Stacy X aka Poor Man's Mystique. Back when Film Mystique was cool.

Fox and X-Men should just not worry about a Dazzler musical movie feeling Disney-ish at all or even getting a Disney star for the role. Look how well Wonder Woman has done. It has been compared to a Disney Princess movie. And to think that the DCEU was considered very dark and serious before. But they didn't ultimately worry that the tone could be seen as different. People have responded very well to it and the box office has been phenomenal.

If Fox could tap into the musical genre with Dazzler, why would it matter that it might seem a radical departure from previous X-Men movies if it is ultra successful? It would play like a non-superhero movie and give it very strong legs, especially if it captures the imagination of teenagers and all those who wouldn't normally go to see this kind of movie.

FoX is getting more female oriented in 2018... But it still has to actually do a solo female film first.

In Kinberg, we trust.
