Apocalypse "I am as far beyond mutants as they are beyond you." The En Sabah Nur(Apocalypse) th

I was gonna say they could just go the mocap route a la Thanos, but I feel with him being an actual mutant and not like some alien or supernatural creature having someone actually play him with makeup/prosthetics would be better. CG for his suit and the crazy enhancements that come with.

I think it will be a mix of practical and CGi effects. The X-Men films never had a character that is pure CGI unless you count the Sentinels.

Does it matter though if Apocalypse is played by a black actor even though he's blue in the comics?

Blue skin is just makeup, with short actor they have to do a lot of CGI work making him taller the whole movie. Haysbert or Todd are already enough tall to play Apo.

It varies more than likely, I think he can be a big guy or a leaner guy, but the prosthetics may make the difference.

He has played heavy makeup characters before, so how about Ron Perlman? He has the size, although he might be a little old for the character. Idris Elba is another candidate and who cares if he was in the Thor movies.

1,85m isn't the size for Apocalypse.
And yup, Idris to play every black character in all marvel movies. He should take wig and play Storm also...:o

Good call

Idris is gonna play Rosa Parks, hadn't you heard?

Whoever plays Apocalypse is going to be heavily CGI anyway so the actor's physical appearance doesn't really matter.

Yeah I am more concerned about the Voice of Apocalypse rather than the physical appearance of the actor.

If someone is about 1,95m, then it's enough, he doesn't have to be bigger the whole movie. If someone is 1.85 then they will have to use more CGI.

None of the X-Men cast have ever been comicbook-size-muscular (except for Juggernaut). Wolverine, Sabretooth, Colossus and Bishop were lean compared to their comicbook versions. So for Apocalypse, they could easily ask an actor to bulk and then give him a body suit, with a bit of CGI the way characters like Mystique use.

On the other hand, I doubt they are going to approach Apocalypse's look very literally. For example, when I first saw Omar Sy was cast as Bishop, I thought he was too thin to play the part. But once the trailers came out and I watched the film, I realized the look was great and that he fit in the film nicely.

hmm I'm starting to think that maybe Singer won't give Apoc his enhancements in this film. Now if he comes back in a later movie dealing w/advanced technology + futuristic setting cool, but for now they might just go with the Egyptian look and him thinking of himself as a "God" think back to X-Men Evolution when they 1st intro. him in s3/s4....either way he's still gonna be bad ass!!!!!!!!!!!!

Hard to say. On the one hand, Singer is known to shy away from comic book silliness, like the X-Men uniforms. On the other, he's remained incredibly faithful to power displays, like Nightcrawler's bamf and Jean Grey's emerging Phoenix effect, as well as iconic character elements, like Cyclops' visor, Magneto's helmet, and even the sentinels' purple paint job. Plus, he's always fully embraced the technological aspects of the X-Men universe, like Cerebro, which is a vast improvement over the comic book version, as well as the Blackbird, X-Mansion subbasement, etc.

They have a good start. Grey skin and blue lips. Make the pharaoh's cowl into a bit more of a helmet, and you have a good start.

I doubt we are going to get the A belt buckle, but even the comics have been shying away from that.

What is this about Tom Hardy being up for a lead role in AOA?? I hope he's not being considered for Apacalypse. That is terrible casting.

You know. I want Hardy to play both Apocalypse in Apocalypse and Deathstroke in Suicide Squad.

Don't make me pick because it's a loss either way.

Well if they are going to use an Egyptian mutant as the lead villain is it too much to ask to cast a person of color? Apocalypse is not white. The racial make up is tied to character just like the Black Panther. It's not a character where the race can be changed like The Flash or Spawn or Bishop or Hawkeye. I don't like changing a characters race at all but if I have to stomach it then it shouldn't be a character where race is a part of their background. Wasn't to many white folk floating around ancient Egypt. After seeing that awful Exodus trailer with Bale and the other dude playing Pharaoh I just shook my head in disgust at Hollywood. This is a FOX movie by the way so we may end up with Hardy as Apocalype. I don't see him playing anything else if they are pursuing him. Apocalypse's underling will be a person of color though, if not anything you can count on Hollywood for that.

I don't mind Bale as Moses because Bale's a good actor. Hell they could get Denzel as Moses and I would ship it.

^ Ridley Scott says, "Hello." ;)

IIRC from the DoFP post-credits scene, young En Sabah Nur was quite pale, so I guess that's the direction they're going.

I really don't want to see Tom Hardy as Apocalypse. I'd rather have Lawrence Fishburne, Terry Crews, Peter Mensah or Manu Bennet.

Hardy's height is irrelevant as:

-There are MANY different established techniques for making and actor seem taller/shorter than they really are. See JRD as Gimli in LOTR, RDJ as Iron Man, and pretty much every Tom Cruise/Sly Stallone action movie ever.

-Apocalypse would likely be either CGI, mo-cap, or some combination of the two. So we'd likely be looking at a Mark Ruffalo as Hulk-type of situation.

-Hardy's a really good actor and can be intimidation as Hell when he wants to be.
