I don't LIKE your Chineesey Name!

Even the "well-drawn" ones are, as I said, ugly, exaggerated, and too easy to replicate for me to have any decent amount of respect for its artists.

*ahem* Care to share these easily replicated drawings? Many American style cartoons are "easy to replicate" as well.

Anime = Japanese animation. In other words, stuff like DragonBall Z, for a more obvious example.

It's loosely tossed around as a nickname for animation, but very rarely, and it's not accurate.

Aqua Teen Hunger Force and Bambi are cartoon animations. Not animes.

I don't care for some American animation styles as well. But anime as a whole, I tend not to care for. Too exaggerated, very ugly, and was too easy for me to pick up and draw right off the bat for me to have any real respect for it.

If you didn't like anime, just say you don't like anime....or at least if you're going to give a reason, make it a decent one...

Actually, most of my old "easily replicated drawings" are in sketch books stashed away, and they were few and far between as I only did them when I was challenged to do so by other anime fanatics. If I remember, I'm sure I could whip one up on my tablet sometime.

So my dislike for exaggerated proportions and ugly appearance isn't good enough? It's my opinion. I'm well aware others don't find it ugly, I do. Deal with it.

Go watch a Hayao Miyazaki film and then tell me those films are "ugly" and "too easy to draw" for you to respect. :down

If he did Howl's Moving Castle, I freely admit, I loved that movie. His architecture is beautiful, but I just can't stand the look of anime-style people. Great story, nonetheless.

And yes, the people are indeed easy to replicate. The architecture, not so much.

(I hope everyone is aware that it's the way the people are drawn in anime that I'm referring to)

Before this gets elevated any further:

I'm more than willing to watch an anime. My girlfriend has me watch some every now and then... If I think it's a good story, I'll like it, anime or not. The only series I found vaguely interesting was one I believe was called Helsing.

If I think it comes out pretty, whether its anime or not, so be it, I'll bite and admit I like it.

I just have no admiration for the way people are portrayed in anime. The more realistic it looks, the less I tend to shy away from it, but the more anime-ish and exaggerated, the more annoying it is for me to look at it. Simple as that. The reason I generalize and say I dislike anime is because almost every single anime I've seen, I haven't liked because of stories that don't appeal to me (most of which my girlfriend reads/watches), or annoyingly overdone and exaggerated characters, on top of the fact that it's just not pleasant for me to look at.

Howl's Moving Castle was a brilliant work of art. I don't necessarily care for the way the faces on the characters were drawn, but the rest of the art- the clothing, the unique animals and lifeforms, the architecture- was all brilliant, and I admit that.

Sarge: My girlfriend just showed me that she owns Spirited Away, and we plan to watch it.

Spirited Away is his best film imo. I'd love to see your sketches btw... do you have a thread in fan art?

I do, but it's old and has one, pretty old, crappy drawing in it (maybe two). I have one new sketch I'm debating on throwing in there, but other than that, I've pretty much given up posting art.
