I enjoy The Last Stand but like many I believe it didn't live to its fullest potiental. I been wondering how could the exisiting film improve with a simple 20 or 30 mintues worth of character developement. With simple re shoots of scenes especially closeups with Famke, Hugh, and James Marsden! Yes, I said James Marsden, our friend who plays Cyclops in the X-Movies.
But first and foremost we can't blame Brett Ratner for the film, yes I know he directing the film but remember he got attached to the film on short notice. I believe the film itself got butchered by the studio itself, Fox. Remember what they did to Daredevil? Remember? Remeber the Driector's Cut of Daredevil? How 30 mintues of footage improved that film? Whose the blame? Fox.
Now how do we improve the film?
Here is what I say lets not scrap the exisiting film just yet. How do we improve the Phoenix storyline? Keep Cyclops alive! Just insert him to parts of the movie where he could have a lasting significance. Take for instant where Magneto is saying his speech to his brotherhood of mutants in the forest. Jean/Phoenix is seen looking and walking away from Magneto after he glance towards her. Have her see Scott/Cyclops alive from their short reunion. Make this a reason why she leaves to the forest and still have the exisiting footage of Logan going after her with Magneto stopping him and throwing him away. Jean/Phoenix then confronts Scott/Cyclops the two have a heartfelt discussion on their feelings towards each other and about Logan too to further his part in the story and the Love triangle that was establish in the first 2 movies. Afterwards have Jean use TK to throw Scott away telling him to please stay away so nothing happens to him.
The significance? Scott/Cyclops is the only one that can reach to and bring out Jean's true personality from the grasp of her Dark Phoenix side. This will later play out in the film's climax, just have Cyclops appear from a distance to Jean/Phoenix(This way this could distract and depower Phoenix a bit) when Logan is in front of her. Reshoot some of the close ups of both Famke and Hugh and add new dialouge change the line where Logan says "I love you" to "Jean...We..Scott...and...I..We love you, all of us" keep the line where she says "Save me" before Logan delivers the final Sknict!

It'll make Jean/Phoenix storyline more tragic and heartbreaken and deeply improve it.
The resolution at the end at the mansion is have Scott and Logan speak of Jean this way bring closure to the story having Scott mourning yet tells Logan that Jean would have wanted it that way(Her being kill to protect those whom she loves).
I'll be back later on to add more with Magneto's ending where he is playing chest and hints that the cure is not permanent. But if anyone wants to you could write the dialouge between Scott and Jean, if anything we could send these ideas to Brett Ratner or Fox. Appeal to their wallets to get bigger with a Director's Cut or Special Edition version DVD for us Fans whom felt disappointed. Hey Fox! More $$$ if you do this in DVD sales!
