Comics I Missed Something

In the comics, Spider-Man got the black suit, used it, and Eddie Brock got it and became Venom. Now there's somethng that I missed, at any point in time before Amazing Spider-Man #300, did Spider-Man lose the black costume? I'm pretty sure Web of Spider-Man #1 is when he gets rid of it, but then why is he still wearing it after that?

He's wearing a costume the Back Cat made for him and not the original black suit.

uh....yeah it's just normal old spandex.

I figured it was spandex, considering he burns it away without having to struggle at the end of Amazing Spider-Man #300, but I just wanted to know when he got it, that's all, thanks guys!
