My dad and a few of his friends took me to see him at Madison Square Garden, and I must say that it was quite an awesome show. I'm not the most avid Floyd fan outside of the hits, but it was one of the best concerts I've ever been to. He did all of Dark Side and his lightshow was awesome. Overall, it was a great show.

Just thought, I'd share this.

Was there an opening band? And how much were tickets, if you don't mind me asking?

That sounds like a great night.

It was. A few people were a bit irked that Roger used every song as an excuse to bash Bush and Blair, though. I thought it added to the show, really. A lot of the imagery he used on certain songs was pretty powerful.

Did he have a monlogue or something between every song?

No, not really. But he introduced a new song (one of the most powerful things he's written) called "Leaving Beirut" and told the story of the song's inspiration, about when he was 17, and he went on a road trip to Lebanon. His car broke down and he was taken in by an Arab family who claimed to be the most compassionate people he ever came across in his life.

How's that anti-Bush?

Oh, I thought you meant did he say anything anti-Bush? He didn't express his views vocally. I said he used imagery and song lyrics, which was pretty powerful. "Fletcher Memorial Home" had smashed pictures of Reagan and Bush, hanging, and the song itself attacks an assortment of political figures. And when he brought the inflatable pig out on "Sheep", it was covered in anti-religion grafiti as well as the words "Impeach Bush". "Us And Them" featured photos of Bush when he announced "Mission Accomplished" after getting Hussein. And "Leaving Beirut", which I should find the lyrics to (the song was played with a comic book on the screen that had the song lyrics on them) was just, wow.

Oh. That's more like it. :yay:

Ya know, I always liked Pink Floyd but never really loved them till I did shrooms. Now every time I hear Comfortably Numb my body goes into a state of euphoria. Also anytime Ive been drinking and I've got the spins I'll play that song which really helps me fall asleep

That there is excellent.

so how's Comfortably Numb without Gilmour's guitar?

I'm probably seeing him in July. I take it that it's recommended.

It was a highlight. The best song though was "Another Brick In The Wall". Everyone sang on that one.

Of course, it's a classic. And that's really awesome that the guitarist nailed Gilmour's solo on Numb. I wanted to see him here in Milwaukee at Summerfest but I couldn't get tickets for the mainstage. :csad:

You missed a great show. I was in the top tier, but I had a good view of the stage.

He'll be around my parts in July, maybe I can make it...
