will taking a graphic art class make me a lot better or is drawing more of a skill you're born with - you can do it or you cant.

I think both are true. You can get a lot better by taking classes but your potential is limited by what you're born with.

Ya. My circles suck too.:down

I'm king at stick people,however.

True.

I tried drawing a few days ago.

The pictures were terrible. :down Compared to how I could draw before, anyway.

My ability comes and goes.

One day I can draw great, no probs, all fine.

Next day I can't even draw a straight line with the help of a ruler.

What suprises me is that alot of people are drawing these days, and nearly all of them are bad at it.Only a few have talent...

Funny, Drawing was always something that came natural to me. But, I still think the whole born with it crap is B.S. It takes lots of time and effort just like any other hobby.

i doubt it's as black and white as "You have it or you don't'...just like most things, some people are just born better at it than others...but that doesn't mean you can't develop it.

oh...and i'm good at drawing

I was born with artistic talent unfortunatly I'm wasting it working at a money wiring agency.

Taking a class will definitely improve your ability to translate what's in your head onto paper. That said, there is no substitute for practice. Good luck in your efforts.

This is true. When I get back into the swing of drawing after a break I am rusty at first but then the longer I keep at it the better I get. When I first started illustrating my fanfic, the pics were really simple. BUt then after a couple of years, the pics got more and more complicated and naturally better. I had to go back and redo some of the old ones because they were too cheesy. I also found that looking at some of the great comic artists can be a real help -- Jim Lee, Salvador Larrocca, David Finch, the Kuberts. There are too many to name. Magazine pictures help too, for complicated things like cityscapes and furniture.

i was born with artistic talent as well.i won first place in all the art competitions here in mississippi except for one.i feel that anyone can draw if you have the patience for it.i've witnessed my classmates in artclass do incredible work ranging from abstracts to sculptures and they're not really fond of art.

Just practice.

My art's okay.

It gets better at the end. My first stuff I posted sucked because I didn't have a scanner.

I was always jealous of people who knew how to draw (or paint) really well. Art is such a neat talent to have, but I suck at it as well:(

The person that works the hardest will always be better than those born with the straight talent

I was born with hands.

While there are people with an abundant of talent that it seems they were born with a college degree, I think you can continually improve throughout your life to a point that the difference between the super-talented and the hard workers is very small.

But that depends upon how hard you're willing to work at it.

I suck at drawing. I use to be damn good, but after I've layed off for nearly 8 years, I can't even draw ****in stick figures.

My teacher says Im the best drawer in the school, and i havent taken ANY art classes

I used to be a good drawer, I still am but not as good as I used to be.

People at school say I'm good too but that's just because I'm better than most of them. I'm not being mean, I'm just saying that they don't draw or practice like I do. So in a way I'm better than them.

But here, no. I suck compared to what these people can do.

A nice drawer
