I think I may like AoA better than normal continuity...

As many of you know, I started into Marvel late, only reading for the last year or so. That said, I had to catch up on some of the "classic arcs" in Marvel history.

I just finished the AoA epic Part 2, and I think I like AoA better than anything I've ever read. It's awesome to see alternate character concepts that actually have a depth to them. While Gambit is my favorite character, I think I actaully like him better in AoA than normally.

Magneto is kickass as well, as is Angel.

That is all. :D

Well isnt that the point? Its a new setting, new background, of course it be a lot easier to add depth to a new character than one thats been around 40+years. Its the whole reasoning behind the Ultimate line.

You liked the re-visit to the AoA reality? Although I liked most of the stuff from the first run, the second was kinda lackluster to me. I always saw it as making more sense if they explored the stuff that happened before since we wre lead to believe that reality had ended.

Oh no, I haven't read the revisit yet. I'm still reading the original arcs - I'm currently on the part where Avalon is exposed and Nightcrawler fights Angel.

Well I know, I'm mostly referencing what I've seen before: Exiles alternate realities, House of M, and the Ultimates. While the majority of these alternate characters are kinda cool, they lack the depth that I've seen in these AoA characters. Maybe it's the writers; maybe it's the time put into them. I don't know. :D

AoA is the single greatest crossover event ever, IMO. Absolutely brilliant.

not the best at all. in order for a crossover to be considered the best, it should involve the entire marvel universe. yeah i know, they had the doom, hulk etc. 2 issue series, but that sucked.

And yet you rip to shreads anything else Marvel does of late. Amazing.

AOA is great but its not as good as regular continuity.

Its a road not taken, grass is always greener kind of thing.

still i loved it. have every issue from when i was 13. i went from one x book to 11 in a month. I still have no idea how i could afford them all.

Notice you said as of late. There is a HUGE disparity between the level of quality from then and now. I call them like I see them.

The only good part about AoA was Magneto ripping Apocalypse in half. MAGNETO RULES!!!

Oh, well; it has some good parts but as a whole it doesn't compare to the first run story and art-wise.

In all fairness, it's easier to make characters your own when you can make up their whole background and determine where they're going to go because you know they're gonna have a finite "life". It's not the same with characters that have a lot of baggage and with whom you can play but have to be careful not to "break them" because other people are going to "play" with them later on. I don't see AoA Sabretooth in Exiles having the same "depth" he had in the AoA books, he seems more like another Sabretooth but with some kind of sentimental attachment to Blink.

Age of Apocalypse. Ah, where everybody's costume sucks total ass. Seriously, nobody looks good in AoA. I bet 616 Sugar Man looks alright, it's just the universe is ugly.

I dunno, I think Mags looks better with the hair hanging long, and then Gambit's outfit looks far better than his pink one. Wolverine's red-and-black looks better than his 616 yellow, and I'd say Nightcrawler looks INFINITELY cooler. Hell, I'd even say Quicksilver's looks better.

Last is Jean. After much thought, she's much hotter in AoA.

So I guess I actually like the AoA outfits better on average. Strong Guy and Cyclops are terrible though. :D

Kotagg, you're not alone bro, AoA kicked so much ass overrall. Great story, pacing, action, and a roster of supporting characters. For once Doc and I agree, AoA was for me, the best crossover event in the MU.

As to the costumes, at least 80% of them were as good or better than their 616 counterparts.
