I had everything in LittleBigPlanet! EVERYTHING

I had everything in LittleBigPlanet! EVERYTHING![]()
before I backup my HDD, I always delete all unnuecesary data. That includes large demos, movie files, large installs (anything over 500mb), and any large games Ive downloaded. I basically try to clear up as much space as possible on the HDD to make backing up take up less space and go much faster. Last time I did it, it took me about 3-4 hours for a full back up. Really thats the best way to go especially if you are doing the backup bc you fear you may have a dying system. The worst thing that could happen is that your system fails in the middle of a 18 hour backup and being on that long, leaves it at a high risk for doing soi can confirm what KALEL114 is saying here...my first 60gb PS3 did the same thing then YLOD'd. Back your saves to an external hardrive ASAP! just make sure you've given it plenty of time to cool down before you do so...it took my 18 hours to back up my 320gb HDD to an external in preparation for sending it off for replacement just recently (i lost all my saves from the YLOD...sucked sooooooooooo bad). It'll take around 8 hours for a 60gb back-up...these amounts of time will definitely wear on your system and I'd hate to hear of a YLOD during a back-up...that would suck so bad.
I personally use my 80gb ipod. I backup onto that and then transfer the data to my PC for safe keepingOkay, thanks man. Now I have to get an external HDD for my PS3, any ideas on a good one for me to get.
How much space is used up on your PS3 that you want to back up? Do you have an iPod? Assuming you have a large capacity one, you can use that as your external HDDI think my external is formatted to NTDS and I'm using Windows 7 on my PC. I guess I can't format it now because I have about 550 gb already used and I don't want to lose any of that stuff.
This was one of the main reasons I was hesitant about sending my system to Sony bc I knew Id lose those copy protected saves. Thank god, sending it to a 3rd party to fix my YLOD preserved them. I have Demon Souls but one reason why I havent played it was bc the saves were protected and I didnt want to invest time into a game that I might lose if I YLOD again. If you have PS+, it helps to use the Cloud feature as you can save those saves to Sony's server. Im not worried about losing these anymoreman...I'm so freaking pissed. I hope none of you end up with this problem...
Well I just want to format whatever saved data on there that I have. After seeing how my bro's PS3 crapped out all of a sudden, it's got me worried about losing all of my stuff. And I have an 8gb ipod nano. How much space is used up on your PS3 that you want to back up? Do you have an iPod? Assuming you have a large capacity one, you can use that as your external HDD

If you would have backed them up on your friends PS3, then all of his data would be gone. It has to be formatted first. The only way to save copy protected saves is to use the Cloud save option or move them to a formatted PS3 HDD via Data Transfer Utility.
My Sony-repaired PS3 YLOD'd this weekend. My warranty is expired, so I decided to fix it myself rather than pay the $130 charge from Sony's tech support or nag Sony's corporate customer service for 3 hours until they agreed to fix it for free (this has worked for many people, but it's kind of a one-time-only-get-out-of-jail-free). For the price of a heat gun, rubbing alcohol, some Arctic Silver 5 thermal compound (about $35 in total), and some elbow grease I was able to bring my PS3 back from the dead thanks to this tutorial series and the accompanying PDF guide.
I re-flowed the soldering around the processors and cleaned the entire system out the best that I could. The main cause of PS3s overheating and getting the YLOD is because too much dust gets inside and the system and it can't expell the heat eficiently. Also, whoever last maintenenced mine did a REALLY crappy job applying the thermal compound, because it was globbed everywhere and I suspect it was a cheap compound as well. I applied a razor-thin coat of Arctic Silver 5 using a rubber glove, and Silver 5 is the best thermal compound you can get as long as you apply it extremely thin. Now the PS3 runs as good as new, and it's whisper quiet unlike in the days leading up to the dreaded YLOD. Best of all (next to saving $100), I did not have to lose all of my data like I would have if I'd had Sony replace it.
By "backing them up on my friends PS3" I meant by using the Data Transfer Utility via a cat5 cable. It's nice to know that works as well...I just wish I'd have done that as a precaution.

Does the PS Cloud save any downloaded content such as DLC, videos, and apps? I don't want to re-download all of my stuff again![]()
Its just game saves but even if it did store that, you'd still have to redownload them bc the whole purpose of the cloud is to store/back up content (game saves) on Sony's servers so you can redownload them laterDoes the PS Cloud save any downloaded content such as DLC, videos, and apps? I know. All of his stuff would have been deleted.

At least you don't have one pissed off friend.![]()
i believe so...i think i've done it before. if you can transfer the data onto an SD card or a flash drive than yes![]()
I dont think that will quite work. It would have to be your profile. You can try it but Im pretty sure that if you load up another user's save, it will not load up with your profile in that game. Actually many games now are profile protected to prevent people manipulating the trophy systemYES!!!
I have a friend that I worked with on LittleBigPlanet so we could get 100% of the stuff together. Now I know that I can copy his data and get all my stuff back![]()
