Besides sports, I do not watch any cable. Last night, I watched a movie that was on FX or something like that. Wow. Just terrible. I dont know how ppl can settle for cable. I guess Im too much a film buff, but the commercials during all the parts, then the movie was chopped up and edited down so scenes were missing. I was absolutely horrified that I used to watch cable when I was a kid. The credits was funny because they shrunk the screen to throw an ad on whats next and the they zoomed through the credits and sped it up 10x so u couldnt even read it. What is the point of even airing the credits if the its literally impossible to read.

Bad experience. I realize there is getting too many sub networks like Netflix, CBS All Access, Amazon Prime, Hulu, and now Disney is getting one - but these are better than cable, imo.

I can't stand cable anymore. I only really watch Youtube and Netflix since I hate commercials and with YT you can usually skip them after a few seconds.

My mother has cable though and when I ask her why, she says she just records whatever then speeds through the commercials.

My brother pays for cable. Only because we got a good deal with internet. Never payed for cable on my own and never will pay. I do enjoy sports 24/7 though.

I would be one of those cord cutters, but WiFi in my area is not the best.

The funniest dialogue about this was in Hulu's "Future Man" when the guy's dad was going on a rant in a nursing home. "We can't even get cable! CABLE! THE THING THAT NOBODY WANTS ANYMORE!"

I have cable but don't watch much live tv because of the commercials. Dvr lets you fast forward through all that crap.

I'm very puzzled about what you thought you were getting yourself into, watching a movie on FX...

The first thing one should learn as a child is.....what channels on cable you should not watch.

I have cable but I really have not choice. Like 90% of the time I am watching TV I am watching sports. I would just get like nba league pass, NFL sunday ticket etc but the problem with that is that you cant watch games on ESPN, ESPN 2, ABC, CBS, TNT, FOX meaning no way to watch like any playoff basketball or NFL or most of there regular season games and no way to recored. Its really to bad because it I where to just get that it would be cheaper then what I pay for cable and on top of that in summer time I don't even really watch tv has there is no football, basketball, hockey during the summer to watch and I am not a big mlb fan. So in summer I am basicly paying for something I don't even really use.

I only watch for news, but I watch almost everything online. And I have no patience for ads.

Depends, HBO has Game of Thrones, Sopranos, the Wire.

AMC had Breaking Bad and the Walking Dead.

My parents still use cable because frankly a lot of older folks just like to channel surf. I use the Nvidia Android TV with a HomeRun setup where all my streamed apps and OTA channels are all on the same thing.

What does that mean in English?

The rise of Netflix has been great to counteract many of the disadvantages of cable. Although I still maintain a very high monthly cable bill for other benefits.

Yes that's what I always did. Watched very little live TV for about 10 years or so at one point.

My wife and I never bothered with cable or satellite TV. Internet (and our Blu-Ray player) is all we need if we want noise in the house. Mostly play YouTube and Netflix. The latter selection is hit and miss, let's be honest. Tried a free-trial run of Hulu and weren't impressed.

My folks have it only due to a bundle package deal and they've admitted once the two-year contract expires, they don't plan on renewing. They only watch TCM, TV Land (mostly for Everybody Loves Raymond) and the 24/7 news networks.

Reminds me of Kodi and their addons, but I'm guessing this is more secure.

Just curious - what was your more in depth opinion of Hulu when u tried it ?

I don't do cable. All I need to survive is Youtube, Netflix, and Hulu.

Plus YouTube TV does live television too.

Cable is dying thanks to the rise of streaming sites like Netflix, Amazon, Youtube, and Hulu.

Older users prefer to just use the ota channels as opposed to cable or streaming, while millenial hipsters prefer the stream option. So cable is kinda stuck right now.

I remember one channel aired the movie 127 Hours, and they edited out the part where he cuts off his arm... THE WHOLE POINT OF THE MOVIE!
