Some of you may remember how viciously I attacked Downey on these boards when he was first cast. I harped heavily on his past & said he had no business playing a superhero. I couldn't imagine at the time what Favreau must've been thinking. I was outraged at the thought of this known drug addict's image being on backpacks & Happy Meals. Some of you agreed with me. Many rushed to his defense. But he gave a top-knotch performance & in every scene, I truly felt like I was watching Tony Stark. I sent him an e-mail teling him all the ridiculous things I said before, & how I would love to tell him to his face that I was dead wrong.:im:

^ Good for you. Most people who were proven wrong would never admit it. It's cool that you'd send an email to RDJ and let him know that his performance made you a believer.

It's nice to see someone "man up" and admit when they made a mistake. I was one of those who defended the casting and am glad to hear you say you made a mistake, it takes guts.

Where'd you get his email? I'd like to commend him for his performance as well.

When I'm wrong, I say I'm wrong. The man delivered the goods.

Me too,I thought there might be something wrong with him. But he proved me wrong also,he is Tony Stark.

Not me, I always knew he was Tony as soon as he was cast. It just hit me in the face because I asked myself why did'nt i think of that before. Anyway, I'm sure all the millions he profited from that film is consoling him.

Its safe to say that Robert Downey Jr. PWNED us all...Not that I was really doubting him when he was cast but he definitely wasnt my first choice. Now I cant see anyone else in the role, thats just pwnage.

:whatever:

(What about the fact that Tony is alcoholic? You happy with kids bying toys of alcoholic superhero? Geez.)

Everyone does drugs on Hollywood. Some of 'em end up on the gossip magazines. I'm not defending drug users or anything. I personally think it's stupid, but that attitude of yours was just ridiculous.

I would have been more outraged if Cruise would have ended playing Stark. That guy should be locked down at Arkham Asylum.

But I'm glad you changed your mind. Now go and watch Zodiac and A Scanner Darkly.

That's the killing part; I've liked Downey in everything else I've seen him in.
And I wasn't factoring Tony's alcoholism in b/c most kids don't know about it & the film didn't really play it up.
My attitude was ridiculous & I've admitted that. And to Odin's Lapdog, I go to movies to be entertained. The level of enjoyment I got from this particular flick was worth the pie.

Have to give you props for admitting you were wrong Chris.

Let's face it - we all get it wrong at some point on here; only difference is that some folk on here don't seem to have the humility (or balls!) to be able to admit it.

RDJ was awesome as Tony; I'm definately looking forward to seeing what he does with the role.

i haven't been worried about RDJ since "kiss kiss, bang bang"

It's funny that I seem to have gained respect by saying I got it wrong.

Damn straight; Being able to admit when you are wrong and apologise accordingly is what seperates a decent person from an a$$hole.

It would make the world a better place if everyone else had the same attitude.

Yeah. But when you consider the fact that I actually went to see the movie, it could indicate that on some level I wanted to be proven wrong.

hahaha never judge before you see at least an image.
dragonball? now thats crap...lol.

That's the bad part; I usually try not to. When Tobey Maguire was cast, I reserved judgment until I saw him in the costume.

I remember-you too old for that:cwink: Leave that to these punks whove only read 30 comics, I also remember you not rippin Howard as harshly-which I still can't figure out.
