If DC decides to replace Leto as Joker, who should play The Joker?

I'm not sure if he has the chops to play the character in live action unless it was for a small role. We'll see how he is in Last Jedi. He's never been a good actor to be honest. He works for Luke but that's about it.

I wouldn't settle for Hamill as old Joker when I can get Willem DaFoe.

I really like the Toby Kebbell idea. I've been a fan of his forever but never thought of him as the Joker before. I dig it!

If we ever got an old Man Joker, I'd want Christopher Walken, Geoffery Rush, Bill Nighy or Jim Carrey to play him.

I’m also down for Javier Bardem or Oscar Isaac as a Cesar Romero style Joker (mustache and all).

I genuinely believe that Leto could make a FANTASTIC Joker if given the right direction and material.
BUT
The more I think about it the more I feel like a re cast would be best.
Separating from the negativity surrounding SS and the DCEU as much as possible would be the best option.
Start fresh.

Leto could be a great joker yeah, he showed potential.
Cant agree with the recast thing...as long as there is potential to be seen, i think its worth giving someone another shot.

Especially since the DCCU is in this weird spot where they have fantastic Actors that can pull off the roles, but everything else is in trouble.

Personally i still have Hamill in my wishlist.
He can do a good live action joker i think, he isnt too old or so.

Doing voices and making faces in a private booth, doesn't mean he can play this character. As an actor, I haven't seen anything that shows why he should get the role. Same with Kevin Conroy for Batman.

Walton Goggins is an interesting choice. I know this whole thread is based on the scenario that Leto is replaced, but I still think he needs to be given a chance to show what he can do in a good movie. I definitely think he has a good Joker performance in him, he just needs a better director and writer to guide him in the right direction.

Throughout his small role in SS it seemed like he had no idea what he was doing and was improvising...but clearly showed that he is unable to improvise.

Eh... I don't want a Batman who is pushing 50 or a Joker who is that age either, and other than in Batman 89, both characters are typically around the same age. I especially wouldn't want an older Joker if the character is going to be appearing multiple times over a series of films.
