If Keaton never made it in 1989......

Apparently before Keaton was chosen the names offerred the part (some mentioned here already) included Pierce Brosnan, Bill Murray, Charlie Sheen, Alec Baldwin and Mel Gibson. Gibson was a terrific actor but post Lethal Weapon he developed his superstar persona and I doubt if he had played the part he would have taken it as seriously as Keaton did to an extent, Sheen was a good actor but too young at the time imo, Murray would have been a more controversial choice than Keaton was!:woot: and Brosnan, despite possibly looking the part more than anyone else (except Baldwin) was too bland circa 1989 imo.

Baldwin, both good looking and a very talented actor (30 Rock proves that after all these years) would have been a very good Bruce Wayne/Batman, shame he didn't get on with Burton whilst filming Beetlejuice.

Man, all the other choices really make me glad that Keaton got picked. I can't imagine seeing Bill Murray play Bruce Wayne. Okay maybe...and it's not pretty. :o

I think Murray as Batman was back when they were still in the "Let's make it like the Adam West TV series" mode of thinking.

But can you imagine Murray as the Joker?

Could you imagine Robin Williams as the Joker? Ohhh gawwd.

My imagination is very capable. That doesn't mean I need you trying to insert weirder s#!t into it.

I would've liked either Gibson or Baldwin as Batman.

For Joker, Ray Liotta or Willem Dafoe.

Was Jim Carey too much of an unknown to play the Joker in 1989?

Willem Dafoe would have made an unbelievably awesome joker. but i think he was filming Last Temptation of Christ when Batman was shooting.

I agree with most of you I always thought Baldwin and my reasoning was definitly The Shadow, he would have been great (if not Keaton of course). He had the darkness in him and his eyes were piercing. Perfect height and size too if a little more jacked.

If Murray were Batman, Eddie Murphy would have been Robin.
