Theeeeyyyy're baaaaaack.

Writer-directors Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer have yet to find a genre or hit movie they didn’t want to spoof. In their time, they have either contributed to or created the Scary Movie films, Date Movie, Epic Movie, Meet The Spartans, Disaster Movie and Vampires Suck. While many had hoped that they would just give up and go and do charity work in recompense, they’ve now set their sights on The Hunger Games with The Starving Games.

The Starving Games, the rights to which will be on sale at Cannes, will use the Suzanne Collins spoof as the skeleton for a parody of The Avengers (natch), Sherlock Holmes, the final Harry Potter and, presumably, whatever else is popular this week.

Who is seeing their movies? I feel like some billionaire is funding them to troll us all.

On sale at Cannes does that mean Fox isn't gonna distribute it this time. These things are so cheap to make its gonna turn a profit anyways.

Friedberg and Seltzer need to go die in a fire.

So which trailers of popular movies do you guys think they'll parody this time?

They can't even bother enough to have a coherent theme anymore?

Starving Games?

Oh, I get it. It's like "Hunger Games," but more so! That's hilarious!

The thing is, Friedberg and Seltzer fail to realize that to make a parody of a popular movie -- you have to have good one-liners, or find a witty way of sending up the movies you're targeting. What they do is re-create scenes from movies and just add an unfunny line or gag to it. There's no originality there.

Jim Abrahams knew how to do parodies. So did the Wayans Brothers, and a few others.

But these guys are just... occasionally they'll do something amusing or hit on something that's funny (like Alyson Hannigan's character dancing to "Milkshake" in Date Movie). But everything else is desperately unfunny.

Stop. Giving. These hacks. Work.

We still have their Epic 3D movie to look forward to too.

I don't understand what genre they're trying to go for here.

Eh, I guess Vampires Suck "fooled" me; aka, in that movie, they really just kept to parodying Twilight and nothing else really, thought they may have realized they should stick with one movie/genre for a parody like past Scary Movies.

Not to go off topic, but your avatars always make me feel like I'm being judged. My self esteem has fallen so low after all these months. :o

I cant wait to not watch this movie.

If you want a modern good parody movie, go watch Iron Sky. They do it magnificently!

My problem is that these two doofus don't just don't understand comedy, because comedy (when you break it down) is an art form. It's about timing, the set up and the punchline, the delivery, etc. In other words, it's not easy.

This guys have exploited their position (most likely from nepotism) and continued to make a mockery of comedy. Yes the entire genre.

What they've actually done is ruin the legitimate parody genre. I'm talking the genre started with Airplane one of the greatest comedies of all time.

Even lower level parodies like the hot shot films look brilliant next to their work. The 1st 3 scare movies even were bearable.

I doubt anyone legitimate will want to make a decent parody movie after what these guys have done.

Great parodies are more subtle than this human excrement. For instance, Shawn of the Dead was a brilliant parody of zombie films because it didn't have cheap cutaway gags or desperate pop-culture references. Even parodies need a core. These putrid spoofs are more hollow than the heads of the idiots who actually pay money to see it.

Dear god will somebody please end these terrible so-called spoof movies!

Again, they deserve their hate, but I don't think you're giving them the little credit they deserve for Vampires Suck. :o
