It was only a matter of time before something like this would be announced:

Maiara Walsh to Star in Hunger Games Parody The Starving Games
Source: Heat Vision
October 23, 2012

Heat Vision is reporting that Maiara Walsh has landed the lead role in Jason Friedberg and Aaron Seltzer's The Hunger Games parody The Starving Games. Friedberg and Seltzer are the duo behind Date Movie, Meet the Spartans and Vampires Suck.

The parodies won't be limited to the world of Suzanne Collins' Panem but will, instead, incorporate other recent big screen hits like Marvel's The Avengers, Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows - Part 2 and Sherlock Holmes: A Game of Shadows.

Walsh will play the lead, a character named Kantmiss Evershot. "Pretty Little Liars" actor Brant Daugherty will play the spoof version of Gale.

Shooting on The Starving Games begins this week in New Orleans.

Walsh's TV credits include "Switched at Birth," "The Secret Life of the American Teenager," "The Vampire Diaries" and "Desperate Housewives."

Nasty. And this won't do a damn thing for Walsh's career that's for sure.

What the heck happened to their Avatar spoof?

This news makes me want to backhand the 15 year olds that I'm sure can't wait to see this.

Epic Movie was really, really bad. There's a difference between skewering movies and just copying scenes verbatim and altering them a bit to make them "funny."

There's comedic potential in spoofing The Hunger Games, but The Starving Games won't tap any of that. They'll just go for the lowest-possible-denomination like farts and puking.

Back in my day, if you wanted to parody something, you'd make a porn version. What ever happened to those old-fashioned values? :(

They certainly were more hilarious than any one of these pieces of crap.

Plus, they had actual penetration. :o

These films… :|

Unless they do something aweaome and left field like cast Jim Rash as Flickerman this is going to be horrible.

They're still doing it. And they're a lot funnier than the s**t these guys turn out, even with the sex edited out.

If I see so much as one TV spot for this, I'm pressing charges.

You want us to embed the youtube trailer to this thread as soon as it's available? Consider it done! :awesome:

I'm personally looking forward to Vivid's XXX parody of The Hunger Games. It'll be much funnier than this, for sure.

Seriously, Epic Movie was appalling. It proved once again that comedy is an art form and not eveyone can do it. It's about the set-up and the punchline, the delivery, the timing, etc. Obviously these directors don't understand comedy and think of it as a cheap way to make money by exploiting the audience. That's a crime.

10 bucks says at least one character (though probably the entire cast) breaks out into the Gangnam Style dance during the course of the movie. Because that is soooo their sense of humor.

"It's Katniss doing the Gangnam Style dance! Look at the juxtaposition! Isn't that FUNNY?!"

Nah, that's probably not accurate... these guys wouldn't know what the word "juxtaposition" means. :o

Yeah. If they were actually clever, they'd make fun of the surreal-looking characters -- especially Effie Trinket. Oh there is serious comedic zingers and gags to be had with her.

Or if they go all un-PC with it, they need to be fearless like the Wayans did with the first two Scary Movies. Say what you want about the second movie, there were some side-splitting moments.

How do Seltzer and Friedberg still get their movies released in theaters? Even Uwe Boll's movies don't come out in theaters anymore.

I'm in the same boat as everyone here, but our disdain for these movies doesn't change the fact that plenty of people still go and see them. The films make money, more than enough to warrant making more. They'll keep making them until they don't turn a profit anymore, it's as simple as that.
