If you were Disney, how much would you pay for the Fantastic Four movie rights?

Keep in mind the FF have never been very profitable for Fox.

I'd cleverly exchange rights with a franchise I do not use any longer, as for example the Honey, I Shrunk the... or something less successful. Fox should be glad to get more than the worth of two eggs for FF after all they have done to the First Family (and friends). It's an IP that is worth nothing in the hands of Fox now, (but has the potential to be another billion $ franchise for Marvel Studios) so if Fox are smart (which we have proof they aren't), they'll take the other franchise and try to build something out of that.

A happy meal at McDonalds.

In all seriousness, the property is pretty damaged. Marvel will have to do a lot of work to give the franchise some good faith. I wouldn't pay much, if anything at all, and wait for the rights to expire. I would try to bundle and make a deal to get FF AND some XMen rights back though.

X-men is never coming back. But FF, I'm thinking that's coming back the same DD did. Rights are gonna lapse. Disney and Fox currently have a good working relationship considering they've let Fox develop X-men into TV Series now. I think FOx is just going to let it go.

The case can definitely be made for $0.

But I'd be willing to go a certain amount, say $100 million, not to take the chance of another reboot. Much more than that and I'd just forget about it. The property simply doesn't have that much value.

$400 k each for the Fantastic Four leads. Then $400 k each for Silver Surfer, Doctor Doom, Annihilus, Galactus and Mole Man. Finally, an additional $400 k for the other characters.

In total of 4 million American doll4rs.

I would work out a co-production arrangement with FOX that allows the studio to create programming involving the X-Men character family to air on their flagship and cable networks.

Don't we kind of have a thread for this kind of discussion already?

Don't we kind of have a thread for this kind of discussion already?
well, one thread asks us to not give up hope, the other simply asks 'How much?' So while there are deep similarities between both threads, reason and question differ enough to warrant the existence of both to a degree.
Also: One can not have enough threads about the impending right reversal

I feel like they are all kind of the same thing. We've talked about this topic in the same thread before.

These rights are obviously worth more than $400K per character.

Well if you were Disney that kind of money would be pocket change.

No need to give them money, just give them time to putz around and they'll wind up where they belong.

If I am the owner of Disney, screw it I am buying X-Men and take control of the X-Men movies! I have no faith with Fox's current management with their upcoming X-Men movies.

Disney spent a sizable chunk of change to buy back just the distribution rights for Iron Man, Cap, Thor, etc. and they allowed Paramount's logo to appear in front of Avengers. Now obviously, those rights have/had a lot more value than Fantastic Four does now as a movie property.

I wouldnt give FOX jack. They just gave them a deal that allowed them to make X related shows for the FX network. That alone should have netted the FF. Screw em

At this point I would get it free in 5 years. Im sure Marvel got enough to keep busy till then. Doom and Galactus will be worth the wait. Fox probably thinks they can get more anyways. Everybody and their momma knows they aint makin no more films.

The fact that they're not buying out Universal's Hulk distribution rights, despite how beloved the character has become in their cinematic universe, says a lot IMO.

They still get to use Hulk and his supporting characters in other films. At least they have access to him. They would only be paying Universal for the right to make solos.

I wish they at least had that option for FF.

Yeah considering Marvel still has access to Hulk and really has no interest in making new solo Hulk films right now, it's an unneeded expense. Now it will probably change at some point, but they probably just don't need it right now.

They don't really need FF right now either, but at least with Hulk they've got a built in fanbase amongst the general audience. If they're not pursuing the Hulk then I can't imagine FF would be a massive priority for them.

FF comes with Silver Surfer, Galactus, Dr. Doom, Skrulls, etc.
