Do you think Marvel will ever get the rights back from Sony & Fox?

This will be my last comment on this subject, but let's not super inflate Doom now, with enough planning, even YOU could defeat Doom (or Stark). After all, they are all only human. Garth's 'What if' comic was selling for $60 an issue when he became famous. Sometimes What If comics make more sense than the 616 universe.

His comic specifically made quite a deal of sense. Punisher has a knack for killing those who could easily beat him in a one on one battle. Using the illogical tech that Stark, Doom, and Richards created, and manipulating the weaknesses, the hatred/distrust between the super groups he was able to kill them all off. Also, a .50cal can take a man's head off, unless Doom weigh's 2,000 lbs, it will snap his neck from the sheer whiplash of hitting his head.

With a little effort, even you can deflate (KLANG KLANG KLANG)) and defeat (SQUITCH) Doom.

Iron Man doesn't need to face Doom until we at least get Mandarin.

I dunno, I really don't see anything ever coming from these proposed FF and DD reboots. Especially not both of them.

This

Most of this FF reboot noise seems to be a lot of bs - and with Chronicle [thus far] performing less that Barbershop - I do not see that director heading it up - let's hope the Fox clock is running out and they DO loose it at the end of 2012!

Execs don't look at movies compared to each other(like Chronicle vs Barbershop...and it did perform better)
The look at Chronicle having a budget of 15Mil to make and took in 105Mil

and just because we aren't privy to the news going on behind the scenes doesn't mean it isn't moving forward

Honestly, I'm expecting Marvel Studios to make an announcement concerning their films and/or newly regained film rights by the San Diego Comic Con this year.

I don't think the Fantastic Four franchise has been touched recently. I mean it was confirmed by Trank himself that he wasn't connected to the F4 film last time, and he only stated that he'd be interested in directing a F4 film recently. And with the news that he's being eyed to helm a Venom flick, the F4 remains without a script or director.

So looking at it, the Fantastic Four seems to be the most likely of rights that could be reverted to Marvel soon enough.

Also: does anyone know when exactly the F4 film rights will revert back to Marvel if the contract expires?

My heart sank when the rumor started swirling that Trank would direct FF for Fox, but, like nearly every other FF rumor since the hired the guy from Batman and Robin, it seems that the Trank one was just noise - and, in my mind, just a way for Fox to pretend they're still interested (and keep any pay-off they hope to get from Marvel as high as possible).

I think every day that passes without solid news about Fox/FF is good news for FF fans.

I'm still clinging to the hope that the 4/4/14 mystery Marvel film will be FF.

Fox announcing in trades they are working on FF is not some smoke and mirrors trick. You forget they work with Marvel on these movies.
Also the contract says what Fox has to do to keep the license. Just because we haven't heard anything doesn't mean nothing is being done.

Where/when has Fox announced they're working on FF? If there was any real info., I missed it.

I think James Bond is their most lucrative Franchise, not Spider-Man.
It really isn't.

Casino Royale only made 594 million WW, and Quantum of Solace made 586.

By comparison, Spider-Man made 821 million, Spider-Man 2 made 783, and Spider-Man 3 made 890.

Those numbers beat JB by a lot.

I want the fox holdings to get dropped, mainly--- it needs to happen sooner than later..

It seems odd to me that a Daredevil movie hasn't been produced since 2003, yet Fox still remains in control of the property. That's back when Ben Affleck was still popular for Christ sake. That's the dark ages.

What the hell kind of deal did Marvel sign?

A financially desperate one? ;)

Anyway, don't forget that Elektra was 2005, and I'm all but certain they were part of one overall license.

Still, Elektra was back in 2005. I really don't understand how those rights haven't reverted back in the course of 7 years! Not to mention, if there was a similar contract signed for FF, then Fox will probably retain those rights for more than 7 years past the previous film as well, which means they won't lose those rights until at least 2014!!

**** DAMN IT!

Edit:

But don't forget that there's always hope!! Sony Pictures is in pretty bad financial shape right now and may have to apply for bankruptcy. This could lose them the Marvel deals, especially if they go under!

Can you imagine Marvel getting the rights back to Spider-Man and Ghost Rider?!

Then, if by chance, Fox ends up giving up FF and Daredevil down the road, the only property not residing at Marvel Studios would be X-Men!

this is an inaccurate statement..the rights don't automatically revert back to Marvel. As owner of the rights Sony can sell them to anyone...think of Monopoly...when you go bankrupt and start selling property to the highest bidder...they don't go back to whomever you bought them off

Actually, it would depend on the stipulations in the contract agreement.

You are correct in that the rights for various properties held by a dying company will be sold to the highest bidder (often in bulk). However, this occurs with properties that those companies have purchased outright and own permanently. The process by which Marvel's rights will be sold or revert back is determined by their contract with Sony.

rights can be sold and bought without Marvel's consent. Spider-man's rights were sold to Columbia pictures...when Sony bought Columbia it didn't make the rights revert to Marvel.

Perhaps...

But in that case, I'm sure Disney would snatch them back up anyway.

or we could see a situation where Sony film goes bankrupt but retains the rights...like MGM did with James Bond
