I'm going to be that guy - TMNT Flaws/Critiques/Spoilers

You would think people involved in the creative process would be knowledgeable, excited and faithful to create a good movie.

But from talking to producers in LA hearing them say, "Guardians was Awesome it has so many 80's references with all the 80's music!"
Goes and binges on massive amounts of drugs to then talking about hiring as many big breasted women for his next involvement.
Wait wtf its 70's music... And i wasn't even Born in the 70's to know that!

This is what makes it suck. They just think "sure Turtles is cool." And thats about it.
Theirs no thought process, passion or brains involved. Its SCARY DUMB How these crap movies are made. It just ends up being such a waste.

Ive talked to people that have NO Knowledge of films and are involved in making them!
They just do it. Thats all.
I have conversations and its I can only say again SCARY DUMB how they talk about what other crap movies do and take from those cause "its whats cool"
Artists, innovators should be involved not someone who is like "I just wanna do that so I do it." That to me is doing it for other reasons and not for fans or integrity of the audience or for the sake of TELLING A STORY.
Like no Depth behind it. As dumb as something is, is a reflection of the person behind it. Thats all I can say.

Look back to who was directing the first film. The guy was smart he turned what could have been a turd into a classic comic book Film. Steve Baron locked himself and the writer away in a hotel for two months and came up with a story based on the first 5 comic book issues. You think anyone involved in this new Movie would give that much of a crap to do that??

Thats the only way I can figure out the why stuff like this is made. People involved are to dumb to know its dumb and how the heck are they making films and producing films? Where does the trail lead back to? SATAN?

This may be an unpopular opinion, but they should have kept Eric Sachs as the Shredder.

There's a belief that the movie would have flowed better had they kept Eric Sachs as the Shredder and not altered it during the re-shoots. I can certainly see why people think that way because watching the movie it really feels like he should have been the one in the armor even down to April delivering the final blow which would have killed the man who murdered her father.

The movie feels very unconnected in general though, not just in regards to the Shredder/Sachs stuff. Where the turtles and Splinter created to be weapons or were they test subjects for this miracle cure to disease?

I know the guy from Latino review when he was invited to the set saw actual Foot Ninjas being used as test subjects for the mutagen to make them super soldiers. It seems this was very a much a big theme in the movie but dropped.

One major problem I have is when is when Splinter is gravely injured that Raphael leaves him dramatically in what's left of the lair with his fate uncertain. The next scene he doesn't seem so worried as if Splinter's injuries were minor and that it's certain he'd be fine, that's a bit of a disconnect but okay. Then when they're rescuing the others they have to get mutagen to save Splinter's life. Whoa so all of a sudden he's back at death's door and part of their mission all along was to get a life saving cure? Doesn't Splinter already have mutagen in his blood? How can they know that more mutagen wouldn't mutate him further?

I also think Raphael simply leaving Splinter in the ruins of the lair whose location had been compromised was a HUGE mis-characterization regardless of whether he was dying or merely incapacitated. They could have dropped him off anywhere like with Abby Elliot's character.

I'd also echo the statement made by someone else here that Raph's heartfelt speech rang hollow. Partly because it didn't seem like the turtles lives were in that much danger anyway and that's before factoring in them having super strength, being bullet proof and having a healing factor and the fact that spire was falling so slowly that they could have easily jumped off to the rooftops but mostly because he had nothing to apologize for. I'd wager this is another thing left over from a previous version they shot. It's even forshadowed that Raph goes off alone and it might have made more sense that he stormed off as he tends to do various versions and escaped the raid on the lair.

It does seem that they filmed about three different versions of this movie that all get edited together into an incomprehensible mush....but hey Megan Fox is wearing a yellow that's what's important.:whatever:

You'd be surprised how stringent fanboys can be when it comes to superficial aesthetics. Almost ironically so.

Wasnt there a scene filmed where ralph had the trench coat and hat on that was a call back to the original? where was that scene?

Well my comment was in reference to an interview from Leibesman in which he said they spent a great deal of time deliberating over the shade of yellow and the right material to as it was important for the fans to get it right.

On the whole I don't think April permanently wearing yellow is that important to fans. She didn't wear it at all in the 90s movies and at least two of them are popular. It's a nice nod but if they were that concerned about things like this it would less of a concern than getting say the look of the turtles more in line with what fans expected or getting the origin of the turtles and Shredder right.

Yes. I'm guessing most of that stuff was scrapped and re-shot. From set photos and interviews with Will Arnett Vern was supposed to be in the lair during Splinter's recounting of the origin and when it got raided, also he and Megan got more involved in the action both in the sewers and Sachs' castle with April using one of Raph's sais. I'd wager the comical scene of Raph trying to get in a car was part of all that.

Here's a criticism that I'm not sure people will agree with but bugged me; did anyone feel like William Fichtner's acting was weird in this?

I've seen him a handful of things and thought he was decent but the excitement of a lot of fans even those who otherwise didn't care for the idea of a white Shredder on the basis of him being a great actor made me think that I must have missed in things which showed his talent.

Watching him in TMNT I feel I've still missed him in things that showed his talent. His early appearances were okay but the scene were he's talking to the caged turtles seemed really off. He reminded me of the twitchy character he played in Contact just a lot more talkative than an imposing villain or even a second in command. The later scene when he's confronting Vern and April also suffers from this.

Also the look of the turtles still bugs. I've seen many fans they accepted it after a while which is a long way from saying the liked it but there were moments that really made me dislike it at points were I was beginning to put it out of my mind.

The inability to keep up straight when they were stood still and them being hunched over a lot which I can understand given those overly bulky shells. Also whenever they ran it seriously looked like their little legs struggled with the big shells and this may sound silly but it accentuated their various loin cloths looking more like skirts. For the next movie I'd accept them wearing pants instead or...oh I don't know being like actual TMNT and just wearing just their belts and pads etc. Just a thought.

I thought William Fichtner's acting was ok at points and he did a good job selling the painting to the audience when he had april at his house but the ending in the lab where he had the gun was horrendous acting.

The turtles had a great look for this day in age I thought. they had the skin texture down too. Its fair to hate or not like the designd but lets face it everytime out the turtles themselves change in looks. I actually preferred the new look to the creepy old rubber suits and weird eyes and mouths. I will admit though that ralph was alittle too hulkish.

I've said it before and I've said it again but this movie....
