The thing with the first in any series of comic book movies is, you have to do the origin. And the problem with being a fan of the character before you see said first movie is, I already know all this s**t from the comics. So while I am hella looking forward to this movie and think it'll be awesome as a opposum, I think any sequels where we dont have to deal with all the origin crap will kick the hell out of it as long as MSJ is still the man behind the curtain with them :o

100% completely agreed.

I always want to see the Origins from the comics movieized. Ghost Rider is one of a kind. I'm excited to see an origin movie with him.

I have to sadly agree...

...so lets just hope that GR can stand alone as a cult classic! :word:

Hey, BG! Come on, man.
Of course GR2 will happens. If the very bad and unsuccessful Punisher movie will get a sequel, why not GR?
There are a plenty of cool tales to tell yet.
GR4EVR!!!

i hope there is one...but it was so hard just to get this one made. Punisher is a different thing altogether....a sequel can be done very cheaply. what was the budget for the 1st one? 33 mil? very easy to do....besides that there is a slightly bigger fan base for punisher than GR.
its also not a good sign for box office when the majority of internet geeks are already slagging your movie months before even one shot of footage is shown. you can tell that some of these people WANT this movie to fall right on its face. wont matter how good the film might be...they still want to slag it. not saying the movie will be the best thing ever but they are not even going to go into it w/ a open mind. they will be looking for faults during the 2 hours of the movie so they can go back online and rag on it.
FF had the same problem...it still did well though but it was aimed at kids. that helped alot...GR wont have that backup from the little ones. older kids sure but i dont think they will be enough.
hope im wrong about how people will perceive the movie...its just that for all 29 years of being a fan i ran into mostly negative comments from people about the character, story, art...left me an impression that the general public just will never understand Ghost Rider. thats why im still amazed that Cage is involved, that they have a 120 mil budget(!!), some pretty big advertisements (a tax ad?!), and some of the best GR merchandise that has ever come out.
while i have no faith in people i never stopped being a fan ...its more like a badge of honor or a big middle finger to society for being a huge fan of such a unpopular character...heh.

Very well said, my friend.
But i really have faith in this movie and by the words of MSJ himself, there will be a sequel.
About being a GR fan, man, i feel exactly the same.
My passion was really born in 1990 and since then i follow every step of the Demon Cyclist.
Every.
I mean it.
It´s a hard job, sometimes nearly impossible.
See this movie on the night of 03/02/2007 ( the release date here in Brasil ) is a dream come true. A dream that honestly i never though it would came true. But it will. God...
We are a resistance force, no doubts about it.
But let´s face it: what´s the big deal on being a X-Fan? Too easy.
No fun at all!
GR4EVR!!!

I think there will be a seuqel, the mantle of the SOV is something that can be passed on so it really doesn't matter if Nic is on board for another movie, heck I'd even prefer it. They could do Caretakers story, but I would love to see Badalino in this flick somewhere and make his deal at the end of the movie and have Vengeance in the next one.

Punisher was fantastic, and was very succesful...it made I believe 3x what it cost to make in theaters (worldwide), and was giant on dvd

The ending is definitely left wide open for a sequel. And knowing Nicholas Cage, he'd probably do what Thomas Jane and Hugh Jackman are doing- producing their own comic heroes' movies and pursuing the future of that hero on film.

Thomas Jane is 110% behind Punisher 2. If there's a way, he's going to make it happen.

Hugh Jackman is pursuing 'Wolverine'.

Nicholas Cage, similarly really loves the character (as noted in the GR tatoo he has), so I'm betting he'd also do whatever possible to ensure a sequel to Ghost Rider.
