Hi, i´m interested in buying a Mac for video editing with final cut studio 2.

is a 24inch iMac at 3.06Ghz with 4Gb of Ram and a 750Gb hard drive good enough for me...?

or do i have to buy a mac pro?

thanks!

mac book pro is your best bet, especially for movie editing, it has the most space. I have a 17inch Macbook Pro and it works perfectly. IMO definitly worth the extra money hahah. Then again it was my graduation present so i really didnt have to pay for it

I used the IMac with the Intel duo processor and 2GB of ram with FCP. It works just fine for me.

If you can get the Mac Pro I would highly suggest it. The Imac you listed is a powerful mother. But I'm not pratically fond of the video card in the imac. I would much rather have the option that comes with the mac pro. Oh and I suggest buying a 1 tb hard drive or a 2tb if you can afford it. I know 750gb seems like a lot and it is but when it comes to editing, trust me, it never seems like you have enough space. Also, theres time machine and time machine has saved my ass so many times.

Mac's are way over priced. If you actually want a GOOD machine, build one. PC will generally put some good stuff but **** it up with more ****, Mac will give you good stability but overpriced and ****** hardware, Alienware (yes I know makes PC computers) will give you the best hardware (I'm not talking their laptops, cause their laptops always crack-out) but it's still at a high price. Best bet is to, again build your own computer.

:whatever:

You ding Apple for making overpriced systems and then recommend Alienware? :lmao:

Pablo, it really comes down to what fits within your budget and just how much video editing you're planning on doing. A 750GB hard drive can fill up awful fast with video files, but there are plenty of external options available that you can go with. The Pro is going to have more potential for expansion (including hard drives), a better video card, capability to handle more RAM and better processing power. But I know plenty of folks who do a lot of video editing on iMacs and they get on just fine with them. Spend what you can afford, but there's no sense breaking the bank for a Mac Pro if you can't really afford it or if you're just going to be doing lighter video editing (i.e. not every day or for a job).
