I was just wondering what directors would you love to see direct comic-based films, but they are either too big or too pretentious or too whatever to make them?

I personally think Stephen Spielberg's Superman would rock. Think about it- most of his movies are about flying, they have a child-like innocence to him, they have an optimistic theme, and have rocking John Williams soundtracks. Sounds just like the spirit of Superman to me. He's too huge now to direct it, unless he just really really wanted to do it, which I kind of doubt. But you have to admit if he made a Superman movie it would probably be great.

I wouldn't mind seeing Tim Burton or damn I forgot that dude that directed 300 take on a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles movie.

I would want to see a Steven Speilberg directed Captain America, that would be amazing.

P.S. Zack Snyder directed 300 he also directed Dawn of the Dead

One that comes up on occasion is Ridley Scott directing Wonder Woman, since he's so good with tough female heroes and such. Jim Cameron on WW might also be cool.

Martin Scorsese's Daredevil.
-crime
-struggling protagonist
-the kitchen
-catholicism
it'd be perfect.

Never thought of it. Scorsese has said in the past that he loves to watch action movies, but he doesn't like to shoot them.

Scorsese puts in too much narration for me. The first half hour of Casino was all narration. At least Goodfellas mixed it up. Awesome movie.

Have Richard Donner come back. That guy can do any genre.

Superman
Lethal Weapon
Goonies
The (original) Omen

Hell, let him do Deadpool. Someone needs to.

NO MORE TIM BURTON PLEASE! That guy can hardly do anything without a main character with a pasty white complexion.

AND DONT FORGET: A director is important, but so is the screenwriter, like David Goyer (Batman Begins) and Zack Snyder (X-men, 300)

i'd like to see tony scott do something.

Of course that means that DiCaprio would be Murdock...which to tell you the truth, he could probably do well in...

^Good choice,David is good at body horror movies,Videodrome and Dead Ringers and The Fly are great(David directed them),so he can nail that down in regards to Spawn and I think it's quite obvious the man can do action with excitement. I still think Spawn is a really kick butt underrated movie though!

Speaking of Burton,I can totally see him do a Spawn movie too. He can do horror fine,he did do SleepyHollow. :yay:

Thanks. Not only is DC a great director, he's the only one who's in roughly the same unhealthy head space as Todd MacFarlane.

dont forget that Cronenberg already directed a comic adaptation (it was loose but still)

I would love to see Terry Gilliam. Not that hes pretentious, but he is very much an autuer and studios dont usually go for him, or change his vision

History of Violence

I wouldnt want him for Spawn. He would make an incredible SwampThing or Doctor Strange. Something more 70s/80s-brand trippy fantasy rather than 90s-brand shock horror (Spawn)

i cant think of many directors who would suit the genre who wouldnt do a comic movie. Spielbergs prolly the biggest. Obviously Paul T Anderson, Coen Brothers, Clint Eastwood, etc. may never do a comic movie or actually even be right for one.

Clint could do a great WWII Cap if it were anything like Flags of Our Fathers/Letters from Iwo Jima

Spielberg for Superman(duh) and Teen Titans

Robert Rodriguez for X-Men

Joss Whedon for New Mutants/Generation X/Young X-Men

And I don't care what anyone says, Tim Burton is a great director, but I can't think of any comic film that I would like him to direct off the top of my head, besides Batman.
