Sequels In retrospect - I'm disgusted with the series.

Raimi has been getting bashed for years, and after Spidey 3 it would still be happening regardless of TDK.

As for upcoming movies? Spidey is a non-entity for me, right now. IM2 and IH2 are meh. But I am hella stoked for Cap, Avengers, and of course Batman 3.

I'm also very interested in the new Supes if it ever gets past the rumour stage.

I hope S-M4 surprises people who bash it though. I mean, seriously, there's an amazing writer on board along with the same cast, etc. Also, if the Lizard is in the 4th one, I know I'm in for a great treat.

The only CB film likely to top TDK in the next couple years is....Watchmen.

^^ Probably, I mean the graphic novel alone has been loved my thousands of people so imagine what the film will do.

For the simple fact that I want all my favorite characters to get a true masterpiece-level depiction alone I hope it surprises, too. I'm just not gonna hold my breath. And yes, Lizard is on my wish-list, as well. :liz: =

The point is the Spider-Man series was just too watered down, too kiddy oriented, and had too much flat acting... which IS a reflection of the director.

Thanks Raimi.

^^ and the casting...they got Gobby, Gobblin Jr, Doc Ock, Aunt May/Uncle Ben, and JJJ...that's really about it. They totally screwed the pooch with the two most important ones: Pete and Mary Jane.

How many times are you going to say that, NinjaCarm? You love Batman, fine, go to the Bat boards, but don't keep making threads about why you hate the Spidey series.

Anyway, Sam proved with his S-M films how much he loves the character. S-M3 don't deserve the amount of bashing it's getting. I mean, seriously, as AVGN said, no matter how great a film is, fans will always have something to complain about. Did peoples reactions to S-M3 effect how I felt about the film? Heck no, I still love the film and think it's very entertaining. Is it my favorite of the series? I don't know. If it isn't, my order would go like this.

Spider-Man 2
Spider-Man 3
Spider-Man 1

I absoloutely love the first film though. Also, Dylan Baker really wants to play the Lizard so that's another great thing.

I trust in Sam Raimi and i hope we get another interview soon so that we can hear what he and the writer have in store for us.

That's actually how I rank them, as well. I prefer the third film to the first one, despite itself.

I like Batman, but not nearly as much as Spider-Man, never will. I always liked Spider-Man, from when I found my dad's old John Romita Sr issues he collected in a box. I love Spider-Man so much, I not happy with the series, it did not live up to the potential... and it makes me unhappy and sad really.

But there's always people out there that will like the less than sub par films that is given to them and guess what, they'll continue to make more of the same.

Well, as I said earlier, to each his own, bud. Everyone has different opinions and I respect yours.

Cool, though, like I said, the 3rd film may be my favorite, but I still don't know. I could never make up my mind on whether the 2nd is my favorite or the 3rd is my favorite. However, I have a feeling the 2nd may be my favorite. Another thing that I love about these films is the suspense. In all three films there have been scenes that have made me jump.

1st film - Norman has a flash back of the night before when he killed Doctor Stromme.

2nd film - Ock's tentacle hitting Harry

3rd film - Harry grabbing MJ in her apartment

I hope that continues in the 4th film.

How doesn't it? It shows that after everyone has seen him as Spidey there are not interested in offering any other roles.

Look at Bale, he is Batman but has been in loads of films since.

Bale has sold out with Terminator... I can't put him up there with Hollywood elite for that reason. The guy will never be heard from again once the Batman/John Conner gig is over IMO...

I think the one with Norman was the best. It's so effective. And I love Norman's confusion over it all. Great stuff. He really gave the best performance in the first film.

Another thing I'd like to add is that I feel Spider-Man 4 will be different than the first 3 films now that alot of loose ends have been tied. I mean, the Goblin story is over, so what's next? I think we'll be seeing more Captain Stacy in this one along with more Gwen as well. It would be great to see Captain Stacy supporting Spidey like in the comics. One thing I don't think will happen though is his death. Well, atleast not until the 5th one or something.

Also, Sam Raimi is a fan of Nolan's work and when he was making Spider-man 2, the first comic book movie he named that he really wanted to see was Nolan's Batman. Sort of went against the Marvel brand there.

Not everything has to be The Dark Knight. Dark Knight is a fantastic movie, one of my favorites. I love the new movie Bat-verse. But I like Spider-man as well for different reasons.

And you know as dark as the Batman films are, even Nolan can't resist the ideal of Batman being a type of hero and role model to children.

Exactly, also, that reminds me, back in Spetember, Sony said they will not try to top TDk with S-M4. They are just going to try to make a great film, which is the way to go. So far, every one of Sony's choices for S-M4 have been a right step to take, so I'm very positive for S-M4. Let's not forget that S-M3 was the first 3rd superhero film in a series not to fail completely in peoples minds.

Perhaps not for you, but this forum is full of them anymore, and I'm flat out sick of these kinds of threads constantly being made. Constantly making the Raimi bashing thread with a thousand faces adds NOTHING to this forum at all.

People have opinions... I don't know why people get all worked up when a new thread pops up like this. The forum has been dead before this thread popped up. Valid points are being made and that's all that matters.

How is that selling out?

Maybe if you said Bond sure...

I doubt that. The Prestige was very good. The Machinist was very good. Public Enemies is sure to be very good as well. As long as Bale continues to make quality films outside of the Batman & Terminator franchises, I'm sure he'll be just fine.

Bale was in quite a few films before Batman Begins, which is another reason I don't think he won't be in any more films.. American Psycho was good.

I edited my post. I meant the first 3rd superhero film in a series to not fail.
Ah. That's what I thought but I just wanted to make sure before posting a reply.

What about Batman Forever and X3?

Yes, both left alot to be desired. A LOT. But they were both successful. BF was a major blockbuster. And in X3's case the movie was actually quite good. BF was meh at best but still...it was the fourth film that killed that franchise.
