NBC is making plans for an In the Line of Fire TV series, based on the 1993 feature film

NBC has plans to bring to the small screen an In the Line of Fire TV series, based on the 1993 feature film starring Clint Eastwood. Deadline has the news, reporting that Sony Pictures TV is developing the property with CSI scribes Josh Berman and Carol Mendelsohn attached to write. At the moment, the network has given the In the Line of Fire TV series a scripted commitment.

According to the outlet, the In the Line of Fire TV series will, like the film, follow a disgraced Secret Service agent who, alongside a female partner, finds a chance for redemption when the President’s life falls in the crosshairs of a rogue CIA hitman. It appears that the series will have both leads investigate cases together with an overall arc tied to preventing the attempted Presidential assassination.

The movie is one of my all time favourites and I think structuring the show with the assassination story as the overarching plot while having stand alone cases is a great idea.
