In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale

if i didn't make this thread... i wonder if anyone would have....

Didn't even break the top ten.
Well Boll should just stick with cheap dtv movies.

Most likely DTV like bloodrayne 2 was.
I wonder when Alone in the dark 2, and House of the dead 3 are coming out on sci fi?

Alone in the dark 2 should just go to scifi before hitting dvd. House of the dead 3...didn't know one was coming out?

Yup, it was originally due out for release A YEAR AGO. No one wanted to distribute Uwe Boll after BloodRayne. Which actually lost a ton of money for the distributor (which I believe was associated with Billy Zane who was in the movie). They over-produced more prints than what was ordered. Exhibitors didn't want to touch the ****ing movie.
I'm flabbergasted that anyone would touch any of Uwe Boll's movies. I mean, he's done quite a bit and they've all be the same thing. He isn't gonna turn around and suddenly make a masterpiece, ya know. It's just not gonna happen.

He must have some serious blackmail on the people who finance his movies, I swear.

Uwe Boll Loses German Tax Shelter Funds
Source: The Hollywood Reporter January 15, 2008

German director Uwe Boll will return to low-budget filmmaking now that his latest and biggest production, the $70 million fantasy epic In the Name of the King: A Dungeon Siege Tale, bombed at the box office.

The $3 million opening marked the third flop in a row for Boll, whose BloodRayne and Alone in the Dark also failed to deliver theatrically.

Reached at his home in Mainz, Boll said the results from "King" mean he will be unable to continue with big-budget productions.

"In the future, I will focus on small films such as (the video game adaptation) 'Postal' or (the Vietnam war drama) 'Tunnel Rats,' " he said. "These are films that represent my true passion, and they can be done with small budgets."

Despite a number of critical and commercial drubbings, Boll has been able to finance bigger budget films through German tax shelter funds. But "King" marked the last film to be bankrolled by his fund, which, like all similar tax shelters, has been banned in Germany.

Boll will now have to finance films the old-fashioned way -- with presales. Given the director's record, that could prove difficult.

The German director has also lined up a decidedly pulpy title for his next adaptation -- the video game shoot 'em up Zombie Massacre.

Sometimes, I just don't understand the career path of Leelee Sobiesky. Wasn't she at one time, the 'it' girl?

This movie seems to defy reality. Why would a studio dump $70 MILLION into a movie like this when it all signs pointed to it being DESTINED to fail critically and financially? Did they think packing it full of miscast C-List and/or has-been actors would make people want to go see it?

Did a studio finance this, or is this one of his "self-financed" projects?

Jesus Christ Almighty... I thought I'd live through the day of ever seeing another bad... no terrible Jason Stamham movie:whatever:
HAHAHHAHAHAHHAHHAHAHH! Wow, 3%.

The first time I heard of this movie was driving through LA with my coworker, on our way to the TDK IMAX prologue screening. There was a huge poster on the side of a building, and I was like, "Hmm, that poster looks cool, but I can't read the title. That's kind of dumb. Are they trying to cause more traffic accidents here?" And then when we got close enough, we could read the title and we both agreed that it sounded lame. I guess we were right. :oldrazz:

I will start believing that Satan and the Anti-Christ exist if after yet ANOTHER FLOP, Uwe Boll still gets another film in the theatres.

Indeed you were lol:grin:
YAY, he's going to struggle to get films made now!
Well yeah but, he still has a chance to jump back with the The Bank Heist movie coming out(or whatever it's called; I'm guessing it's The Bank Heist).

Meh, I saw the movie. Thought it was alright.

And Uwe's directing it? Not surprised...

I don't think Uwe's films are good at all, but they're not hideous either. They just make me go "Meh" and move on.

Well.. it got Dolph in it so I'm gonna see it just because of that :D

How the man still makes movies is a mystery. It's like they find a franchise with potential and decide they want to see how badly they can ruin it and hand it off to Uwe Boll.
