I think Marvel should incorporate Malibu Comics' Ultraverse into their own Marvel "616" universe. When the Ultraverse came out they had characters similar to already existing characters like Iron Man, Wonder Woman, and Captain Marvel, and the X-Men. Marvel bought their company and the comics disappeared.
years ago DC out companies like Charlton Comics and Fawcett Comics, and during the Crisis on Infinite Earths they incorpotated those company's characters into their own universe. Blue Beetle's, the Question's, and Captain Marvel's, universes merged into DC's universe and these characters suddenly had always been part of DC comics.
My idea is similar, Marvel bought the rights to these characters. Why not use them.
So here are some of my ideas how Marvel could do this:

Prime: Kevin Green is a young pre teen who is a mutant (replace Ultraverse's idea of Ultras with Marvel's Mutants) who has the mutant ability to alter his genetic structure at its base levels. He can transform his body, mostly transforming it into the hulking hero Prime who looks like the Hulk but has powers similar to the Sentry. He can alter his strength, making himself super strong and fast, and he can give himself the ability to fly. On occassion Kevin has, accidentally and on purpose, altered his Prime form allowing him to breath under water or in space. His mutant power could be similar to Darwyn's, a power that allows him to adapt to any situation and survive it. However a draw back could be that his powers also effect how his body would naturally form, possibly slowing or stopping his aging. When Kevin turns back to his younger form the excess DNA melts into a goo cacoon that Kevin emerges out of. The goo lingers so Kevin must hide it if he doesn't want it found. He could become a reoccurring character in the X-men comics, even joining an X-Men team. I'd love to see him interact with Xavier and the Beast, perhaps the Beast studies his genetic goo.
Marvel, according to rumors, were going to do with with Mr. Sinister. Making Sinister the creation of a young mutant freinenemy of young Scott Summers who couldn't age but created an adult personality called Mr. Sinister. He was to be Marvel's twisted version of Captain Marvel. So My idea would be to have Prime be Marvel's Captain Marvel, making him still the product of a young mutant.

Prototype: Jimmy Ruiz is a young adult who is the test pilot for a prototype suit of armor, the company is a rival to Stark's and, like in the Iron Man 2 movie, everyone seems to by trying to make their own Iron Man armor. However Jimmy is also a mutant, something the company may know now but not something they knew before he put on the armor. His mutant power allows him to be a power source for the suit of armor, before hand it would work properly. So in effect the suit only works because of him. He was implanted with cybernetics making him forever connected to the suit, possibly making him look like a Matrix character with plugs and stuff sticking out, but also allowing him to operate the suit from a distance.
He is a pilot, not a scientist. He could become part of the Iron Man family and occasionally show up and help out or get in the way. Similar to how Batman has Robin, Nightwing, Batgirl, Batwoman, the Question, the Demon, Gordon, Alfred, and Catwoman, or how the Hulk now has A-Bomb, Doc Samson, She-Hulk, the Red Hulk, and the Red She-Hulk, Iron Man can have War Machine, and this guy from a rival company who also has a suit of armor.

Mantra: Lukasz was an ancient mystic warror, perhaps associates with the then Sorcerer Supreme, he was recently reincarnated as a woman. He now must not only become accostumed to being a woman but to also to the new era he is living in. Mantra could be an associate of Dr. Strange.

Some of the characters do seem to be to close to what marvel already has, but here is a try anyway:
Topaz: In the Ultraverse she is pretty much Thundra. A warrior woman from a female dominated society. But she could be, with her blue skin, a Kree woman who is part of a splinter group that is dominated by woman. using her Kree tech she creates her weapon of choice which is an engery staff made of her own thought. Maybe she is a member of Thunra's world but was experimented on by the Kree.
Hardcase: He is pretty much Wonder Man, an actor superhero. He is a "Ultra" he was an actor before gaining powers, now he uses his fame and powers to be the most famous Ultra and help build up the good reputation of Ultras. So essentially he could be an actor, famous, like Brad Pitt level fame, and then "come out" as a mutant. Now he is the most famous mutant on Earth. Fighting for Mutant rights, making a good name for them, and could also help out the X-Men. It could essentially be like when an actor comes out as gay, how things change for them.
Freaks: Maybe bring these mutants into the Marvel universe too, only maybe they form their own team different from the X-Men.

I just think some of these characters could be fun and maybe even profitable for Marvel comics. What do you guys think? Any ideas how to bring these characters into Marvel?

While there are some of them that I'd love to see crossover into the mainstream Marvel I don't think there's any profit in it these days. It's been too long.

That said, I think they could easily be worked into the world. I think it'd be best though if it WEREN'T ones similar to already established Marvel characters. I'd personally like to see Prime, Ghoul, Lord Pumkin, Sludge, and 'Strike make the crossover.

They should with Crossgen properties too, Although I have not been reading the new ones, just too busy

I'm a bit dissapointed with marvel in how they reportedly have handled those.

Crossgen could be a great way to introduce some good fantasy genre books, but so far no such luck

People always bring up something concerning royalties as the reason why marvel doesn't use those characters. Don't know the details, though...

The details are that Marvel have to pay the original creators of the ULTRAVERSE characters a set percentage of any sales and/or profits made on any comics made with them. Hence why they haven't bothered since the late 90's.

I suppose Disney's lawyers could find some way to get out of those contracts, likely with litigation or buy-outs, but they'd either have to see one of the ULTRAVERSE properties as worth the trouble, or feel that whatever the percentage that the creators would get is so high as to be worth the trouble. The cost of seeking to alter or buy out a contract can easily be more than whatever the royalty was (especially as sources claim the language of the contract is very simple with little wiggle room). In 2005, Joe Q cited the royalty issue but claimed other reasons for not wanting to revive any of the ULTRAVERSE characters. For the record, Marvel bought out Malibu in 1994 for two reasons; to acquire their then-innovative digital coloring studio, and to put a competitor out of business. MALIBU's president claimed he sold the company to Marvel because he felt they had better access to bigger markets - talk about a backfire, eh?

The fact of the matter is Marvel has shown zero interest in MALIBU since the 90's when they gained the rights to them, had some crossovers and generally ruined them. I think only Loki, Black Knight, or Juggernaut really had much to do with that universe. There was some mumbling about a PRIME film adaptation at the start of the decade, but that's long since died out.

The irony is Prime is really the only modern attempt to imitate Captain Marvel that worked for any length of time. And Mantra made waves at the time for the whole gender identity thing, even if the name was very "on the nose" in that regard.

In fairness, DC bringing in universes of characters hasn't worked well for them lately. Even many of those old Fawcett characters have had difficulty being relaunched.

In connected details, Marvel's CEO is a billionaire named Ike Perlmutter. He no longer owns Marvel but runs the company and is known for being a J.J. style cheapskate, caring more about saving pennies than investing dollars. Marvel has laid off as many as 16 long term staff within a month, including many editors or production people who'd been there for decades. Marvel only has one bathroom for their entire floor staff and their HR department is basically ONE GUY. Anything in which Marvel cannot reap 100% of the profit is usually DOA in Ike's view, and that is very likely why there's no movement on Malibu. Heck, one of the creators who the company would have to kick percentages to - Steve Gerber - is dead.

Marvel should revive Nightman. He was the only character from Malibu Comics I ever paid attention to. I remember the tv show better than I did the book though.

they should reboot the Ultraverse as a sort of a cross between the New 52 and the Ultimate Marvel line. Give the characters a fresh new updated look for today. Most the characters are dated and could use an update.

Night Man
Johnny Domino gains his powers from an IED in Iraq that left a piece of shrapnel embedded in his head. He returns home and uses his training and new found powers to take back the Night.

Prime

Kevin Green was just a normal 13 year old kid until he got cancer. His future looked bleak until Doc Gross used an untested treatment to cure him. Only it didn't just cure him Kevin's body transforms into Prime by growing to a fully grown adult. The change is painful as all of his bodies organs, tissue, and bones are forced to grow to adult at an accelerated rate. Colonel Samuels; an ambitious military officer brings Kevin under his "protection" as a way to study him and replicate his powers.

Prototype
Jimmy Ruiz was left paralyzed in the same IED explosion that Johnny Domino was in. Ruiz was contacted by Ultra-Tech to be apart of, Project: Prototype, as the first in a new line of Bionic soldiers. Ruiz devices surgically implanted in his body that enabled him to cybernetically control a suit of powered armor which enabled him to fly, fire blasts of concussive energy, and which greatly amplified his strength. After this Ruiz becomes a corporate spokesman/mascot named Prototype.

The Strangers
- Atom Bob, Grenade, Lady Killer, Spectral and Zip-Zap
Five normal people that just happened to be on the a the bus when its hit would a blast of mutagenic radiation that granted them all super powers. The Five of them are taken in by Industrialist J.D. Hunt who helps them form a team to help the world. But in reality he is behind the accident that gave them their powers, now he sees them as a way of gaining more power.

The Squad
- D.J. BLAST, Forsa, Hardcase and Starburst
The four members that would make up the Squad were exposed to the same mutagenic radiation that granted super powers to the Strangers. The Four of them use their powers to out in public, work with the police and gain the trust of the people.

Ultraforce-
Contrary, Ghoul, Topaz, Pixx, Prime, Prototype and Night Man
Seven Superheroes brought together by Contrary to form a team that takes on threats of a global scale.

FREEX
AJ, Anything, Boomboy, Cayman, Plug, Pressure, Sweetface, are seven teenagers that were augmented with alien technology after birth. It wasn’t until puberty that any of them started to show any signs of powers. The Seven of them are gathered by the government but soon together they escape. On the run they are on a mission to discover of the truth about themselves. Along the way they meet the “Old Man”, who takes them in.

EXILES
when the Theta virus starts to spread through out the Ultra population causing the infects powers to over load killing them the government contacts Dr. Rachel Deming to help find the Ultra's and find a way to help them. Deming forms a team; Deadeye, Ghoul, Trax, Tinsel, to track down Ultras that have been infected with the Theta virus.

If they brought back Night Man, I would be greatly disappointed if they didn't introduce a character named Day Man... Fighter of the Night Man, Champion of the Sun.

Is it the same guy or someone else? And either way, is there a Day Man? He's a master of karate and friendship for everyone.

yes same guy he was split in two and one stayed in the ultraverse and the other went to the 616

Real Name: Judd Shepard

Identity/Class: Human mutate/ultra

Occupation: Private Investigator. Trax Agency

Base of Operations: Los Angeles, California

Powers: Psychometry- a form of extra-sensory perception. By making physical contact with an object (or person) can read energy field of that object's history showing him the past, present, and future of the object.

Shepard is hired by Malcolm Kort to use his powers to find Dr. Rachel Deming. He is told she used to work for his company, Visionary Productions, and that she stole property of his. Shepard tracks her to Stronghold Island where she and a group of Ultras infected with the Theta virus live. There he finds that he was used by Kort and that Deming had not stolen anything, but that she had freed the Ultras that were being held there. Deming tells him that Kort’s company had created the Theta virus and that it was trying to use it to make super soldiers with it.

Lord Pumpkin should be a villain for Elven. I would also make her an elf and not a girl that turns into an elf warrior.

I think that if you did bring back the ultraverse you would need to have some magical realms. And one could be ruled by Lord Pumpkin. You could even have him come to earth and be the reason for the formation of Ultraforce.

Anyone think these characters will make a come back, or will they just live in some vault never to see the light of day?
