Indie films or Blockbuster films, what's your preference?

Would you say you like Independent films or Blockbuster films more? Have your tastes changed?

Personally, I used to like blockbuster films more than independent - but, lately, I'm finding my favorite films are all independent, they're just more memorable. I'm unsure if that's due to tastes changing or if it's due to the quality and originality of blockbuster films not being quite what it used to be.

Indie cinema is the heart of cinema, blockbusters are the veins. Independent and self funding cinema could not exist without those in BB world noticing and rewarding faith those that are willing to risk.

Very few directors stay 'out of the system' their whole working life.

My own tastes slant towards indie & smaller films but the very love of cinema can contain both given one stems from the other in some structural scenario or another, one is born out of or the necessity as a counter to the other.

I love both. It really comes down to whether or not I enjoy the movie I am watching at that moment.

This year has leaned a bit more independent for me.

Independent films, easily. I feel there's more substance to them on a consistent compared to a lot of blockbusters. Plus, going to a cinema that plays independent films is a more intimate and engaging experience because, for the most part, the audience is there to just watch the film and not provide commentary. Give me movies like Whiplash or A Private War or Ingrid Goes West over any of these major blockbusters and especially big budget comic films any day of the week.
