Exactly.

There are some amusing chan-specific memes that make me laugh sometimes (eg: "I'ma firin' mah lazer!", "I herd u liek Mudkips", longcat, etc), but so much of what they come up with is either garbage or too obscure to matter outside of their own circles that it doesn't really count.

It's kind of like thousands of monkeys flinging poo at a wall, hoping something will stick. Eventually a particular turd will indeed stick, and when it does, all the monkeys chatter with glee and pat themselves on the back for being so clever at the internetz.
