wow... how had i not heard about this?

it looks wonderful. not too sure about how it ends (in real life) translating to the big screen, but it looks like one of those sure contenders for best picture.

Damn, this was a hard thread to find.
Edit: Ignore me, I think I typed it in wrong. :O

Saw the trailer today with Sunshine.
OhmiGod!!!!! :wow:
I was choked up and holding back tears by the tailer alone. This looks so amazing and not just because I've dreamed of going to Alaska and living that mans dream. :cmad: Sean Penn looks to have done a fantastic job, I'm very impressed....very.

This is, hands down, the best non-fiction book, ever written.

Isn't this based on a guy that ended up dying because he was completely unprepared for living in Alaska?

LMFAO.

No, I suggest, you read the book.

He was fully prepared; he just made a horrible error.

He starved to death, right? That sounds like a lack of preparation and understanding of the environment to me

I heard Emile lost a good amount of weight for this...starting at around 155-160 and dropping to 115...hes getting alot of positive buzz for his performance

^Yeah, I think it's really going to make the impact that much greater. :csad:

I watched the Oprah show last night and it was very informative, of course.
Penn was very reserved didn't say much. But he said he waited for 10 years to film this out of respect for the family. They called with their blessing with the go ahead. Chris' sister was very stoic, she looks like she has a little of her bro in her, mind sight wise. They, McCandless family, friends and Jon Krakauer (the author), were all very moved by Penn's adaptation.

It's getting great reviews...This si why I love Fall/Winter movie releases...all the best stuff comes out at this time cause they all wanna win Oscars.

I magine I'll be rather speechless and unable to get up when it's all said and done.

I don't go to the movies to be entertained, I go to be moved.

I read the Sean Penn+Eddie Vedder piece in Time magazine about this
It sounds like a solid film-I like the whole Machinist extreme weight loss angle Emille Hirsch went for

i saw this movie the other night by far the best movie of the year sooo good if u have a chance go and see it !!
