It is good to see that there is still such a high percentage of people that are wanting to see it despite the poor reviews. People should judge for themselves, as critics do not always see things the same way fans do. Also the first half may be just okay, but it could be setting up a second half that is Spectacular. We just don't know. So here is hoping.

I said this before that it doesn't make sense to aggregate reviews of a Netflix show before they see the whole season. It screws things up when the reviews get mixed with reviews of the entire season.

Agents of Shield's RT and Metacritic scores went up after the full season was over. Hopefully we'll see the same happen to Iron Fist.

I knew this was coming, from the moment they announced Scott Buck was the showrunner. The man is hardcore terrible. I don't know what kind of dirt he has on Hollywood execs, but his Dexter run took one of the best, fan favorite, heavy in pop culture shows and ran that sucker into the dirt. He ruined one of the best things on TV, and now he savaged Iron Fist. And they still HIRE THE SUCKER! Keep that blackmail going Scott. It's working out for you.

Won't even stick around to see how he'll butcher Inhumans. I mean come on folks. 3 shows with great reviews on the same network and now the critics are wrong? Nah. It's a Scott Buck show. If you've seen the man's work, then you already knew these reviews were coming.

Sad to see that the MCU's got it's first bust. Took almost a decade but here it is.

Again, half a season guys

I'll take 14% over the 0% it had, haha.

When people said it was getting 0%, I knew that was nearly impossible since I've seen positive reviews. RT doesn't weigh reviews, it's just positive vs. negative. So it had to at least be 1%. I just wish it either started over when full reviews come in or it specifically called this "Iron Fist (first six episodes)."

That being said, I suppose weekly episodic TV doesn't get reviewed on the finished product either. It's part of the reason why TV never works as well as movies with Rotten Tomatoes. It certainly hasn't caught on as being as important.

Oh yeah, of course, I was never expecting this to stay at 0%. Especially since various reviews I've seen are 6/10, which could easily be either or depending on the reviewer.

Yeah, but if a show cannot get interesting 6 episodes in there is a problem. I think the first couple episodes of Daredevil were great and made want to watch the rest of the season.

I can't help but feel that Marvel might have got a little bit cocky and didn't give this show the same care an attention they gave the previous Marvel Netflix shows.

I'll give the show a chance. In fact, now that my expectations have dropped, I might enjoy it more. But some of the footage I've seen so far has been underwhelming.

Indeed. Why would I want to watch the rest of the season if the first 6 eps are trash?

And if we look at the Netflix pattern, the first few eps are traditionally the best. If the show starts weak, it's probably going to get even worse.

I'll obviously give it a chance, and would be overjoyed to be proved wrong.

So this.

Omar: "A man's gotta have a code."

When I train people at my work, there are a couple ethically ambiguous sections, and I tell them they have to have a code, and stick to doing something one way. You can't just choose whichever option benefits you best for that period of time. That's called backbone.

I feel that is the same problem right now in politics, when people complain about a position when it's happening against them, but then are for a position when it happens for them.

Youth! Stand your ground and have a backbone!!!!

I'm a huge fan of Rotten Tomatoes. It totally makes sense. If 4/5 of people who are paid to review shows/movies like it, I'm probably going to as well.
This is not to say that I won't/can't like it if it falls below 80%, but if I'm on the fence it'll decide. There are probably better ways to spend my time.

I'm going to watch every second of Iron Fist, just like I have every second of the MCU. I'm probably going to enjoy it because of it's inclusion in the MCU, but I'll do so knowing it's not a quality product.

TL : DR You can't herald RT or dismiss RT only when it fits your worldview.

PS TL : DR This goes for everything in your life. Find something to stand for and then stand for it. Don't make the world fit you view. It won't. Make your view fit the world, and help you understand it.

I still plan to watch it, I never care about the critics whether good or bad reviews.

Maybe IF won't get a solo second season. They can just combine him with Luke Cage and get Heroes for Hire.

As I said in another thread, RT and reviews are fun reads, but I do not let them decide anthing for me. That is what my brain is for and I can decide for myself. Plenty of shows and movies we now regard as classics got poor reviews. Critics at one time hated both Blade Runner and 2001: A Space Oddyssey. Now, I am not saying Iron Fist will be THAT good, but I am using extreme examples to show that critics are often times off

MCU still doesn't have it's first bust. The tv shows are barely connected and the main MCU can disavown them anytime they want. MCU's track record is still spotless regarding critical reception.

Haven't they already done that to some degree?

Ouch. Shame to see this fairing so poorly with critics after Marvel knocked it out of the park with their other Netflix shows.

Also, what's up with that Iron Fist poster on RT? Who approved that ridiculous looking thing?

Shame to read this, but we have had a pretty decent run of it with Netflix shows so I guess nothing lasts forever. Still going to check it out and might like it but its a bit of a bummer to see as was really looking forward to this one.

And that's exactly why people need to stop saying that the IGN review was good. IGN grade TV shows like a research paper. It's a D. They basically said that Marvel put in the effort for Iron Fist but failed to deliver results which just caused a mediocre TV show.

Always a black sheep in the family. Looks like Iron Fist is the MCU.

They more than make up for it with Punisher and The Defenders.

True, still looking forward to The Punisher and Defenders a great deal. The Punisher was some of the best comic book material of either medium, tv or film, so they still have a lot more pluses than minuses going for them. I'm just gutted as I thought this would be on a DD level with kung-fu thrown into the mix it seemed it had loads going for it.

..not to mention their praise for Ghostbusters-remake. That only amplified my wariness of them.

Yeah, although the show is meant to be deadly serious, the poster makes it look like a complete spoof with him dressed like that in a business suit. If it had a comedic tagline, I would've thought it was a comedy.

Stephen Chow directed season 2 or heroes for hire please! :ilv:
