Is it a better fit if Jeremy Irons (Alfred) and J.K Simmons (Gordon) switch roles ?

I just feel that in the DCEU, Alfred is just too young, especially in BvS (I know he's 70, but his appearance is just so young and full of energy). J.K Simmons, I feel a little bit old for Gordon.

I imagine that Jeremy Irons would be a perfect choice to play Jim Gordon, while J.K Simmons with his signature bald-head may be more fit to play Alfred.

What do you guys think ?

I certainly think both are fine actors, who deserved to be in better movies than they are. There are so many iterations of both Alfred and Gordon, that either could play both equally well.

Both would be good Luthors.

No sure if Simmons could affect a British accent.

Love Jeremy Irons' version of Alfred and liked JK Simmons as Gordon.

Would not alter anything in terms of those castings.

I wasn't a big fan of either performance despite them both being great actors. I wouldn't be upset if they were both recast.

Bryan Cranston should still be Gordon.

No. Jeremy Irons' Alfred was one of the few bright spots in BVS.

My Alfred ranking

Sean Pertwee
Michael Caine
Michael Gough
Alan Napier
Jeremy Irons

I don't think Irons is bad at all I just think the others were just so great

I think they're fine in the roles they're in. That said, I could see JK as Alfred. Not sure about Irons as Gordon though.

I thought they were fine. Just disappointed we didn't get to see Gym Gordon..

I think Jeremy Irons is the best Alfred yet. He has the dry sarcasm down perfectly.

LOL this wins the award for the weirdest thread I've seen all day.

But I do know that JK Simmons used a British accent in The Snowman, so...

I think they're fine where they're at. Alfred doesn't have to be an old man, and normally isn't in the comics(just late middle-aged). On the other hand, at least in older comics, Gordon at least looks older than Alfred, due to the white/gray hair.

After JL, I'm afraid it's becoming a one-trick pony. Certainly not his fault as he's a phenomenal actor, but like Affleck it's also lessened my enthusiasm for their return.

Sean Pertwee (from Gotham) has slowly become my favorite live-action Alfred. He's nailed every quality I've wanted in the character.
