I doubt it's going to happen, but am I the only one who thinks a Batman vs Superman movie would be a blockbuster followup to BB and SR? Supposedly, this was actually discussed at one time.

Batman was a solid film that I really enjoyed. SR was ok. Routh was fine in the role of Clark/Supes. The special effects were great. I just thought the story was pretty weak despite a cool premise in having Lex find the fortress. The combined take of the films will probably be around 400 - 420 million. Batman grossd $205 mil last summer, Superman will probably gross something in the same neighborhood.

Each franchise has had 5 theatrical films. Neither character is ever going to have a sequel cross the 300 mil mark. WB seem "excited" that the next film may have "the Joker". Well, we've already had that. Is the public going to go bonkers over another "Superman vs. Lex" film? I doubt it. Maybe it's time for something new. I know it would be expensive, but I can't imagine the public not flocking to the theaters to Batman and Supes on the screen together.

Comments?

"I've thought about it for a long time — even a longer time ago, actually," the director revealed. "But I don't know who would be the villain. I guess Batman would be the villain, but then he can't be too bad, because he is Batman. So not quite yet. ... I think Superman needs to have his own movies for a little while before that happens." Either way, Singer insisted that "everybody's excited to do more ... and I'm sure we'll do another one."

This quote is interesting. I posted something about this earlier this week. No one replied so I assumed nobody (at least on this board) was interested in the concept. It good to know I'm not the only one out there who'd get a kick out of a Batman/Superman flick. :)

Honestly, I don't think we will see Superman on film again until the Batman/Superman movie comes to pass. I think Begins will get its sequel, and then after it makes a bang at the box office, Warner's will say f%ck it and make the Worlds Finest movie. I can only hope Singer stays the hell away from that one and Timm/Dini write the film, with help from David Goyer and Christopher Nolan directing.

The best part is if you with a the Walker script or something similiar, you can work around the whole dumb ass Lois/Richard/Kid storyline, seeing that in Walker's script Superman spends most of his down time in Smallville with Lana Lang. That was one of the biggest complaints from the script, lack of Lois Lane, and it would make sense now because of the ignorance of Singer and co.

It's not time for Superman to take on Batman.

It's time for Superman to take on someone else in his Rogues' Gallery OTHER THAN Luthor and Zod.

It's too bad but you're absolutely right. Singer has his paws on Superman, and he'll take him down along with the help of the Whack Pack of Harris and Daugherty. Singer won't let anyone else come near and work on Superman, and he won't let anyone else right the story.

The sad thing about this film is he screwed the fans with a poor movie, but worse, he screwed the character of Superman by providing a poor film.
