For those of you who say no, is there no life in the world you'd sacrifice to save a billion others?

For those of you who say yes, is there no one who is an exception to the rule...someone you would never sacrifice to save a billion others?

How about someone you'd never sacrifice to save 6 billion others?

Yes. It is worth one life to save a billion. And I don't know who I would never sacrifice.

That's depressing^

maybe, its a very general Question and depends greatly on the siuation. There is always a chance that more options can be found.

Is this thread like a spinoff from the Watchmen form?

No.

No.

No.

My questions are pretty straightforward.

You know exactly what I am asking.

See, this is how crazy some curious cats have made the Community! If you want order in the Community, these curious cats must stop questioning my questions. Oh, and every day they don't, people will die, starting tonight. I'm a man of my word.

I would sacrifice any life to save a billion people. No matter who it was. I'd kill myself afterward because I don't deserve to live after killing someone but those billion lives are worth more then ours

....not really that strightfoward. Life can't be generalized like that. the situation surrounding the events will always effect the outcome. It is like asking if torture keeps people safe. There is many different layers to that and it demands more info before a logical answer can be made.

Life technically can be generalized like that.

Yes however how do i know it will work? will I have to keep killing to keep them safe. What if there is a option I over look and that person dies for nothing. It is like generalizing good and evil with no grey area.

The whole thing with Ozymandias and the

Sacrifice New York and stop a nuclear war plan

Just in case SOMEONE hasnt seen/read/had it spoiled already :oldrazz:

The book has been out for over 20 years, I think if someone hasn't read it by now they deserve to have it spoiled

I believe in absolute zero.

What if the one person was Shakespeare and the billion people were living in poverty? Then would it be worth getting rid of one of humanity's bright lights to allow a billion to be subjected to humanity's worsts?

Yes.

Only Sith deal in absolutes....
Also, isn't that what Spock did at the end of Wrath Of Khan?
"The needs of many outweigh the needs of the few, or the one"

I wouldn't sacrifice my loved ones to save a billion others. Myself {maybe} but nobody else.

I wouldn't sacrifice my daughter or my giant mutant Lynx. /ozymandias

I would have no qualms what-so-ever. Unless I had to kill my mum, dad or girlfrend. Or any other family member actually.
