Is James Cameron an Xmen fan?

I swear, when I saw Terminator (1984), I thought this was straight out Xmen's Days of Future Past (published in 1981-1982?).

I hope movie goers won't say Days of Future Past was based on the Terminator.

That would be a travesty of justice.
