Is Johnny Depp Officially The Biggest Star In The World?

I don't agree that a movie star has to have a ton of mega hits. A movie can be a hit without having to gross 250mil domestically, it all depends on the budget. It's the nature of the business now that all actors need franchises. And actors have up and down periods in their careers, that's just the nature of things.

Some seem to think A-Lister and moviestar means every film has to gross over 500mil internationally and that the actor has to have a perfect record of no flops but I don't think that was ever what a moviestar was. And that's especially not going to happen in this day and age.
i didnt mean 500 millions. with comedies if your movie made 100-150 domestic its a big hit.

More like the most overrated star. The guy can't make a good / hit movie without Tim Burton directing or doing a Pirates sequel.

The Biggest "Star" to date is probably Depp...but I forsee the he is soon to be surpassed by none other than...RDJ...

He's got the Iron Man's and the whole Avengers thing going on...and a possibly/probably big Sherlock Holmes franchise coming up...

This is what I was thinking too. It's just a matter of time, as long as he doesn't screw up, RDJ will be the biggest star in the world.

:( not 1 woman has managed to make it into the top 10.

Apart from Freeman in The Dark Knight trilogy (in which he was a fairly small supporting role), and Jackson in The Avengers, almost none of those people besides Downey has had a huge hit in years.

I find it very hard to believe Eddie Murphy is the 2nd biggest movie star in the world....for what, exactly??

^Shrek movies made bank man not to mention all his late 80's early 90's stuff.

Tom Cruise had MI4, but yeah, Downey has had the most box office success as of late from the people on that list.

EDIT: NVM, War of the Worlds made 113 mil off DVD sales. :wow:

No.

There's only one big star left. Tom Cruise.

What about Dwayne Johnson? The Great One has been in an impressive string of big hits lately.

I just made this poster. Everything is cut by hand (even the letters), just like Edward would have done. :)

After the Equalizer's opening, Denzel has been pretty damn bankable. Actually, he has bankable for quite a while now.
