World Is the Japanese TAKARA series (Headmasters, Masterforce, VICTORY, ZONE) worth buying?

If you don't like Beast Wars you obviously have horrible taste/are insane. But. If you don't like anything Mainframe did to the G1 cannon, you'll probably hate what the Japanese did without Hasbro's influence. What I'm saying is that if you like G1 seasons 1-3. Stay away from Masterforce. Unless ofcourse you want to see human teenagers (with a few Autobot advisors) battling the Decepticons.

You may not even like some bits from Headmasters. Like that they write out Optimus Prime and bring back Rodimus Prime in episode 4 or 5. He doesn't die exactly (same fate as Alpha Trion in Key to Vector Sigma), but he's still out and Roddy Prime back in as leader. They also kill Galvatron, twice. They also blow up Cybertron, boom dead gone finished. But they did bring back Wheeljack (don't ask, I don't know) and Hound. Wheelie and Daniel play bigger roles than they did before (they are always there), being the characters kids are mean't to indentify with and all. Also there are no Nebulons period. The headmasters are Rumble/Frenzy sized TF's that move to a planet called Master and then when they start fighting amung themselfs they build Transectors to combine with. Bascially Cromedome and Hardhead are the heads and their bodies are just an armoured battlesuit they combine with.

They also bring back Prowl, Ironhide and Sideswipe (accidentally)

As a fan of the G1 series only, are the 4 Japanese TAKARA series worth buying?
Yeah good luck with that. The full series still aren't available in any "quality" form. I believe the UK released some DVD boxed sets, but nothing in the United States have come of these series...and don't even bother trying to find them dubbed, they're horrible:csad: .

My advice, their is a website called TFCog.net which features fandubbed episodes of these shows...they aren't great, but they're more watchable than anything else you'd find.

The UK boxsets are the Malaysian dub, but they also have a subtitled Japanese soundtrack. Just watched a review of it.

LARS,
I think the Beast Wars is a generation thing. It seems that most of the Transformers fans in here are in teens/early 20s and ****ship Beast Wars. Usually, whatever one watched when one is a child is the show you end up ****shipping. I'm not saying that older fans don't like Beast Wars, I just think that the older fans may be more attached to the G1 series. Personally, I just can't watch that crude, dated, charmless CGI animation of Beast Wars, regardless of the stories being good. I suppose it's the same as me saying that I don't like South Park due to the animation (which is a great show once you get past the animation being poor). I just can't look at it.
