Because I want to wear one when the release approaches. :D

Cool!

But I wonder if I can get one from some place like the mall and not quite order them online (looking for alternatives)

youll have to wait till a week or so before when the merchandise pours in....
(whoops talked about shirts on the wrong website...thats what i get for posting in to threads at once)

You need two things: A smiley face button, and a knife.

Or a red marker. That will work too.

Id wait until a little closer to the release of the film, when there should be plenty of buttons at Hot Topic.

So who else is getting a payout from the Watchmen Movie? Keen eyes watching the current trailer have seen a Smiley Logo: TM The Smiley Company credit attached, that wasn't on the first trailer. Clearly some lawyers also saw the first one and got a massive payout. Don't expect much Smiley Watchmen merchandise as a result.

Just make one with red poster paint or something.

This reminded me of when I was visiting my brother in London the summer of '89(roundabout, I recall issue 1 of Legends of teh Dark Knight was on sale at the time) and I saw a Watchmen smiley face watch in one of the comic shops. How I wish I'd had the dough for that watch, really wanted it.

Damn Cafepress isn't selling the new movie buttons anymore, I came across them a month ago but thought I would wait.

If they don't sell "official Watchmen smiley pins" in stores now (probably comic stores or novelty stores like Hot Topic), they will soon.

Failing that, you could probably get a hold of a normal smiley-face button from somewhere, and add the blood splatter yourself using paint. Use red paint mixed with just a bit of blue (sounds weird I know) to get the blood color.

If you can't find a smiley button at all, you could make the face itself out of construction paper or something. Then if possible, get access to a button-pressing machine and make the button. I don't know where you would find one, but they exist. The crafts center at my school has some, for instance.

Places like Michaels sale little under a dollar DIY button kits. They're two pieces used to sandwhich a piece or paper, print out, etc. I printed off a button using this picture:

and it came out pretty good for about $1 worth of stuff.

I imagine someone could find a movie button with no blood, a halloween store pinch of fake blood and there you go. Or for the bit more experiened folks, you can mix up a bit up dark red acrylic paint with some 60 second (clear, not yellow) epoxy and add a dabble of blood over a button to give it a better look. More realistic.

movie version. Just trim away the black and place in button halves. Save ink by printing trial versions under the "test" printers settings.

Can any of you photoshoppers remove the blood splotch and or the black eyes and mouth? That way folks looking to add real blood I talked about in the post above can do so for a movie look.

i think i have one or two that DC was handing out years ago at comic con.
