True, but don't forget that Japan got its taste for imperial conquest outside its borders from World War 1, when it participated in attacks on and subsequently took control of a couple of Germany's Asian territories. And by then, it had become as powerful as it had been by adopting the military strategy and management practices of Germany, England and other European powers.

Japan too after it figure that they could seize Germany's Pacific colonies in Asia and to also invade Mongolia and Manchuria during the debilitating Great Depression that weakened the West.

Communism was essentially a response to defense against encroachment from western imperial colonialism and a replacement authoritarian leader after usually losing a monarchy or imperial dynasty in each country overthrown or attempted to be by the West.

I sincerly hope World War 3 doesn't occur. In our current state, we will be beaten and beaten badly. Ok, maybe not beaten badly. But we would be beat because quite frankly, we don't have what it takes to win a war in the manner it would go down. Our spirit is currently weak, almost everyone is a self loathing slob that resents their own country, and I can garuntee you some hippie dippie fools will think the problem can be sold by listening to the Beatles. WRRRROOOOOOOONNNNNNNNNGGGGGGGGG.

We are just to soft for what we would have to do. Following 9/11, I said to myself that in order to fight this evil terrorist cell crap by going to the darkest corner of our soul. And we haven't yet, and likely won't. Sympathy and criticsm surrounded waterboarding while our guys were getting their heads cut off and chopped into pieces. What the hell? That says it all.

The Americans in the 40's and 50's would not take this crap. But our weakling society of today does. In closing, we would need to go Boer Ware crazy. But it will not happen. And I will be damned if I bow to a conquering foreign leader, but other Americans would take it lying down.

Yes. In order to prevent World War 3, we need to kill more things. Also, we were apparently listening to the Beatles too much. You are so hardcore, NotFadeAway. It must be hard to be such an internet badass.

One of the reasons our economy is in such great shape (and consequently why our debt to China, number one frenemy and likely WW3 opponent is growing) is because we got bogged down in trillion dollar military misadventures in lost causes like Iraq. Not only did this help bankrupt us, but it also inflamed that part of the region and their attitudes towards us. I hope my reasoning for why we may be weakened going into WW3 was more nuanced than your "too many hippies were listening to the Beatles."

Biological warfare has been taboo for some time. The last country to try it was nuked. Even Nazi Germany knew better than to use biological weapons. It turns a conventional war into a war of total annihilation.

I'm sure they would come up with some kind of dispersal plan or figure out how long it can remain active in an environment once everything inside the environment is dead. Of course they would first have to contain the country by effectively quarrantining it by taking out its various transportation systems.
