Is this a good book?

I know its gonna be over in like ten issues or so, so I'm just wondering if its worth getting into now?

Well, that depends on your definition of "worth it", but in almost all cases I'd say a resounding YES applies. "Y" stands next to "Preacher" as one of the better realized comic books I've ever read. Virology, freaks(of the mental kind), and apocalypse humor all make for a great read.

'course, that's just my opinion.

I've only read the first trade, but it is awesome.

Something doesn't get that much praise and it's crap.

Is breathing worth is? Of course it is. Pick up the first trade my good friend and read it, ill guarantee youll enjoy it and if you dont, at least youre not left with the doubt.

Elijya will be by soon to plug his Official Recommendations Thread in Misc. Comics.

He'll also take me to task or something for not liking Y: The Last Man. No, I still haven't read it, and yes, I probably will. More on the strength of two protagonists named Yorick and Ampersand than anything else, but still.

actually, no I wasn't going to, Darth

Kool-Aid, when you say you want to get into it, do you mean you want to jump onto the monthly series? Because you should really start from the begining, which means the trades

and yes, it's a fantastic series

(Love the Hunter avi, btw. Have you read Transmet?)

You so were, dont deny it. It'll be our little secret.

I bought the first four trades and, while I enjoyed them, I wasn't really motivated to keep following the story.

Okay you guys were right. It is awesome. I bought the first 2 issues that came in one issue today. Just read it and loved it.

Yeah I meant jump on the monthly. I was actually bidding on the full run yesterday and I lost.:( Thing went for $190. Maybe next time.

Thanks, I'm a big fan of his. Yeah, I did read that Transmet. Its awesome.

Transmet is basically one huge hardon for Hunter Thompson and what he stood for.
My favorite Vertigo title

I've read every Y trade paperback so far and have loved every one.

Yikes! What country are you from? $190 for all of the current trades is a bit of a rip-off. You could buy all of them from Amazon for just over $100.

I think he meant the individual issues. :o
