The Amazing Spider-Man Isn't Tobey Too Old?

I gotta admit looking at those pics, he looks the right age for Peter Parker, now, if only they can write the character so that it fits him being a grown ass confident young man--and not a punk ass crying and timid teen. The guy should be almost out of college in SM4, or at least his third year.

OH MY GOSH!!! YES!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously. I am so tired of this nerdy/shy Peter. He wasn't like that after he got his powers.

To me, Tobey IS Spider-Man. Age wise he is fine, and I wouldn't want him to leave.

Tobey is turning 34 in June. Hasn't he gotten a little too old for the role of a 19-20 year old college student? Now, I'm not saying that they should re-cast him but they should seriously considering fast-forwarding the timeline in part 4. The movie can't take place a year after part 3 without people rolling their eyes. This isn't Smallville. :o
What's you avatar from?

Good idea, though. Maybe someone should make a thread called ''Isn't Tobey Too Chubby?'' :oldrazz:

:awesome: :hehe:

Exactly.

*****ebag.

And I could care less if Spidey fanboys are agreeing with you.

They're inferior anyways.

which is why, with each passing day, I am convinced you cant possibly be as stupid as you sound...not to mention, spidey doesent need a reboot, so way to fail. :whatever:

There you go champ.

See...now you don't sound as stupid.

Learn how to type properly if you don't want me to say you're inferior.

:cwink:

And yes, Spider-Man DOES need a reboot. Or at least Sam Raimi should've thought of hiring a SMARTER writer and not himself and his brother.

Kinda agree.

Well, the REBOOT I'm not so sure about. :)

how do I sound stupid? just because I dont ***** about GOOD movies because "venom was raped!, raimi sucks! tobey sucks! kirsten sucks!" like you do.
and learn how to come up with a better argument to show your not inferior.:cwink: at ya

anyone who says the series needs a reboot based on a personal disliking of SM3, I completely disregard anything they say.

Spider-Man doesnt need to reboot for any reason. The only reason things reboot is to have a change of scenery.

Wow. That guy would be perfect. He looks more like Peter than Tobey.

I would say the reason things reboot is to dump all the sucky stuff they've collected over the years.

I actually am in favor or a reboot, but not because of SM3. SM2 was when I started having problems with Raimi. Mostly, it's because of how he's handled Spider-man and MJ. He completely destroyed MJ's character in the movies, and he doesn't understand the characterization of Spider-man at all.

SSM is a great example of how to utlize the characteriztions of Spidey and his major players. I would love it if Raimi took a cue from that show.

i personally have zero problems with the franchise, I have very harsh, negative feelings for any reboot talk at all with this franchise, and I dont watch that show at all, but I'm just glad someone who Is calling for a reboot isn't doing so because of "emo peter", and I commend you for that :cwink:. still, for me though, no reboots, unless 4 and 5 are actually terrible (which they won't be :yay: ) but, you know :cwink:

I'd be happy with a reboot for a hundred reasons. Though I enjoyed all three movies. Emo Peter, dancing emo Peter, I've never thought Tobey made the best Peter or Spidey. Spidey needs to be funny and needs to throw out some quips. Mj needs to be a party girl with issues. Gwen should have been his first girl friend. Power Ranger Goblin, Venom sucked, and so on...

But my biggest complaint is that that haven't really done Peter/Spider-Man's character right yet. I think Tobey is to blame for that as much as the writing. He does his lines so dry and monotoned. But again, I loved all three movies.

I recently re-watched Spiderman 1 and 2. They're really enjoyable films. I agree Tobey can be pretty dry, but it can make it come off really funny sometimes. When I'm watching him talk to MJ he says things really nerdy, and I'm just thinking "Goodddd" and start laughing. I'm happy with him as Parker. But after awhile they'll want to reboot Spiderman anyways, unless comic book movies become unpopular over that period of time. BUT I really think Dunst hasn't done MJ justice. She doesn't dress very model-ish, kinda granny-ish if you ask me. And yeah, I never understood why they never started out with Gwen as his girlfriend in the first place.

Everyone talks reboot reboot reboot. Everyone automatically thought it would be a reboot after Spider-man 3. Nope.

Get over it. Reboot ******** talk until the cows come home. The last movie still almost made $1 billion worldwide.

Uh, money's got nothing to do with it. The fact is, yeah, sm3 is the highest grossing movie of the series but it was universally panned. SM3's BO reciepts didn't measure success. They measured how many people were suckered into paying for a crappy product.

Die another day was Brosnan's highest grossing Bond film and one of the highest grossing Bond films in the series but guess what....that's right Johnny, REBOOT!!!

Now, I'm not saying the spider-man series needs a media-grabbing reboot and even if it did, it wouldn't be just because of sm3 it would be because all 3 films are painfully underwhelming. The movies aren't as great as some of it's parts...imo of course.

What the movies need is to just continue but make positive and progressive changes. I'm not too thrilled with the cast but if a fantastic and entertaining script can call for the actors to up the ante with their performances, that would be more than fine. The series just needs radically better scripts and for Raimi to improve his artistic and directorial vision.
