'It Follows' Expanding Nationwide in Theaters, Delays VOD Push

On Friday, It Follows will be playing in 1,200 theaters, by far the widest release in Radius' three-year history. Radius, a division of The Weinstein Co., was launched by co-presidents Tom Quinn and Jason Janego with an eye to distribute films on a myriad of platforms, versus relying solely on the traditional theatrical route.

Until now, all of the features released by Radius have been quickly available on VOD, meaning they only play in select theaters, since most exhibitors refuse to give screen time to a movie defying traditional windows (to date, the widest Radius release was Lovelace, which played in 118 cinemas).

In order to secure so many theaters, Radius had to delay It Follows' VOD release, originally set for March 27.

Want to see this but the closest theater playing it is kinda far away. Is this actually worth seeing on a big screen w/ surround speakers, or would it still be effective on a TV-sized screen w/ stereo speakers?

I'd recommend seeing it in theaters, it was a truly immersive experience. It was also a sold-out show and you could tell the whole room was very into it.

Just got back from seeing it.

The reaction this movie has gotten is a little confusing.

It Follows is okay. Very very okay. It has a strong premise...and not much more.

The movie starts off strong. It establishes its set up very well and then becomes quite repetitive.

The premise could have been used as a starting point to explore a number of different ideas but it doesn't really do much in that regard.

The film has a pretty good cast and establishes the relationships between the characters fairly well...but fails to do much with them.

The whole film just feels like the first act of a much better movie. I'm not sure where all the love is coming from.

It Follows is passable. 6/10

Pretty much. It doesn't do much with sound design. Music is okay but nothing that needs to be blared .
