"It's the thought that counts"

I won't say it, I won't...
2009 New Year's Resolution FTL

Ugh, I never make those dumb "I'm gonna work out for New Year's or I'm gonna get fit for the summer!" things. All year long! Do you really think Spoons would be dating a woman like that? :csad: Jerk.

The fitness centers around the country are jam packed on Jan. 2 every year.

I hate getting gifts that I don't like even if there's good thought in it. I hate returning things to a store after Christmas, which you almost always have to do in order to still be able to return it. And then I usually wind up getting store credit. Thanks Aunt Wendy I wonder how I will use my 40 dollar Belk store credit now...

LoL

Yeah, i do belive the thought that counts matters, getting anything is something to be greatful for. But when your a total gymrat as you put it, you'd think they would have maybe put the thought into making you some homemade granola bars or trail mix or something thats a little more befitting.

'The thought that counts' only works when the thought is genuine. If somebody buys a present for you just to be nice, but the present is badly considered, it isn't an excuse. However, if the present is clearly picked out as a sign of love, then that excuse very much applies.

For example, my great grandmother would, without fail, send me £2 every birthday until the year she died. Everyone else would give me around £10-£20. But I valued that £2 much more, because I didn't see my great grandmother very often, and it was her way of showing how much she loved me.

I say I thought about buying them a present and it never works!!
