Now that I am un-banned just wanted to congratulate you. Im trying to attend Columbia College of Hollywood. For writing mainly might try other stuff. Im really wanting to give stand up a try and Ive got some really good material so far just gotta get the cahones to actually do it. Plus I wanna pursue character or comedic acting as well so if you ever need a fat guy in a movie just get ahold of me! lol For real though if you do lemme know

I second that man come up with some great stuff and blow us all away. If I do go to film school for writing I plan on writing some terrific scripts for tv and film. I have alot of really good ideas for both just need to develope the skills for writing first. It all just depends though

I would prefer to do reboots only if I needed the money, really. Although Batman and Star Trek would good reboots.

Got nothing on youtube, never shot anything really with a camera. I will say I like the visual directing of Paul W.S. Anderson, Bay, some of Boll's stuff (kid u not) and Roland Emmerich. And Sam Raimi's work on the Evil Dead series. I would like to shoot a action movie the way Rami shot Evil Dead 2 with those kooky angles. I would actual probably be a better music video director than a film director. But if I ahd to, I could see myself doing nothing too crazy with a camera if the subject didn't need angles like that.

If nothing else, I wouldn't mind a career where I filmed the action scenes in movies.

Well....unless I get a co-signer, I ain't going to film school. This is bull ****. A Parent Plus Loan, I would have needed a co-signer and couldn't apply for it. Sallie Mae...now is saying I NEED a co-signer...good chance even with me being accepted, I will have to drop out of film school due to lack of funds.

Help?

My Parents...no way in hell they can afford to take a chance and co-sign my loan...or any loan...

Maybe its just not meant to be and get into filmmaking some other way.


Just cause you have a film school degree makes it any easier. Sure it might make i more better, but its not a 100 % gurantee deal.

If your talent is good enough that should speak for its self.

I don't know what my talent is. I know in terms of screenwriting talent it's writing action scenes.

Um...there is at least 1 film school in state. Winston-Salem. Maybe another in Wilmington. But I ain't giving up on LA just yet. But it's almost a nail in the coffin with no co-signer and a start date in late Oct.

I just got a call yesterday from the school telling me there taking back the loan they gave me... because there stupid and thought I could get with taking 2 classes... and they said in order for me to get it, i need to take 4... (which with the two classes im taking this quarter (big huge stressful project review classes), would kill me) sooo that means if they can't help me with getting another loan, or the payment wont be bad... i'll have to drop out. Which means I'll probably have to move home to ohio... because i don't have a job, and my mom is only helping me out cuz i'm in school. It's a vicious cycle of hell... and ill find out 2morrow

undergrad... most people don't get a masters in film... hell some people will tell you that your fine with even just an associates. The art world is more about what you can do, rather then having a piece of paper for it. In all honesty.

Undergrad. Although I...didn't know the difference for a while...may have even put grad on one application? I dunno.

Pretty much every college has a film department now. Ashville, Western, even NC State has one. If you want to go to film school here in state go to Wilmington. There is a catch though, you have to apply after your freshmen year to get into the film department. Its lame but they have alot of people sign up. They have alot of great stuff there thanks to Frank Capra family, and Dino De Laurentiis family. You also have the screen gems studio like 10 mins away(They have nothing to do with the crappy movie distributer screen gems).
I wouldn't go to Winston-Salem School of the Arts. Unless you want to make what they want you to do. I went there for a summer thing. Learned alot, also learned they pretty much want you to do nothing but indie dramedys. That and theres hippies everywhere.

See Im trying to get into Columbia College of Hollywood which is strictly a film school. I didnt know that when you go to a specialty school you still have to take the regular classes which sucks really. But the way the guy explained it to me they split up your electives throughout the 4 years and you start off with hands on stuff and only one elelctive per semester so thats kinda cool when most film schools wont let you start the hands on stuff till about your junior year

Well, I tlaked to my financial aid officer at the Film School. My Loan was too big so I asked what I should had applied for and it was 25,000+ living expeneses for the first 9 months. So, I cancelled my loan and could reapply for 39,000....BUT...I will probably still need a co-signer, and my Parents can't afford to co-sign anything. Haven't heard anything about my Stafford Loan...and if I do get a co-signer for a 39K loan, I'll need another loand during school to finished the final 3 months of school.


Sooo...Parent Fail.

If I do 4 years in the Marines or Army, will that cover film school?
