I just grabbed a copy of the DVD from work today, as our copies were shipped in around noon or so. Now, I haven't watched much of it yet, but I'll edit this as I watch.
The Film
I won't write a full blown review of the movie, but I'll make a quick summary of what I was most impressed with. In a nutshell, Casino Royale is a fantastic, well done movie. I can't really say anything else that others haven't already praised about this flick, but it's one of my favorite Bond movies, and at some spots of the show, really feels like it should have been one of the earlier Bond flicks. That's a huge plus with me. The casting is spot on. Daniel Craig - great actor - pulled off the Bond of a lifetime - despite the criticism of overzealous Brosnan fans - and had great chemistry with Eva Green's Vesper Lynd. And while she wasn't onscreen a whole lot, Judi Dench brought her usual game. Although the writing wasn't anything extraordinary, there were bits and pieces that struck with me, such as Bond and Vesper's dialogue on the beach during a later part of the movie ("Does everyone have a 'tell'?"). Lastly, I thought Royale had some of the best action sequences of the year. The construction zone chase at the beginning and the collapsing houseboat at the end were incredible. All in all I didn't find anything really disappointing with this movie.
But oh yeah, Eva Green is f**king gorgeous.

Audio/Video
- The visual presentation on the disc was breathtaking. Available as an 2.40:1 anamorphic ratio, the picture was very clean, and crisp. Mastered in High Definition.
- The Dolby Digital 5.1 audio found on the feature was as it should. This is a Bond flick, and by that, the sound should match him. And it did. Boy did it ever. Also available in French Dolby Surround and Spanish 5.1 Dolby Digital, with English, French and Spanish subtitles.
Special Features
- Becoming Bond - A very solid special on, obviously, the process of Daniel Craig's transformation into 007. It also covers MGM's acquisition to the rights of the original novel, their dispute with Sony some years back, and the harsh judgment on Craig from the fans. On a side note, you also get to hear Judi Dench snort when she laughs. This was a very informative documentary. It was interesting hearing the cast in their interviews, and when they talk about the poker table and such.. And I will say this now, but I'll probably keep on saying it: Eva Green is f**king gorgeous. I'll say that she's one of the most beautiful women on this planet.
- Trailers - Not much to crow about here. You get trailers of Premonition, Spider-Man 3, Rocky Balboa. The Pursuit of Happyness, The Holiday, Spider-Man 2.1.
