Parisian developer Area Effect has been sharing work-in-progress screenshots of Izle recently and it has certainly proved eye-catching. The world of Izle is a colorful place, which makes it all the more heart-breaking if you were to fail the game’s mission and have to watch as it’s consumed by darkness.

You see, Izle puts you in the position of a warrior who must summon the power of the gods to protect the remaining fragmented isle floating in space upon which civilization must regrow after a long war with the shadows.

What you need to do, then, is to call upon the Gods of Light to help terraform the island. You’ll be able to create “treacherous undergrounds, sky castles, ivory towers, dungeons and elemental mysteries.” Each time you do, the gods request that you complete a quest for them.


Completing these quests grants you one of the “Shards of Light”, which can be used to either reinforce the magical shell that defends what’s left of your world, or you can use it to craft powerful items of Light.

Eventually, after restoring some of your world, and acquiring new items that you tailor to create your own class and gain new abilities in order to grow stronger, you’ll get the chance to take down the shadows in the Dark Citadel. If you fail then your world will be destroyed – all of your hard work for nothing.

Izle is currently in pre-alpha and there should be a trailer and a demo coming shortly. You can keep up with its development over on its website.

Harness the power of the gods to terraform islands in 2016.

Area Effect, a studio made up of former Ubisoft developers, has announced Izle, a 3D action-adventure world-building RPG coming to PlayStation 4, Xbox One, Wii U, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2016.
The game will have players building their own world by summoning the power of the gods and terraforming a variety of randomly-created islands. Players will be able to explore, harness abilities, and forge items to create new character classes.

Sign-Up For The Closed Alpha Of Vibrant, Low-Poly Sandbox Fantasy Izle. January 30, 2015 . 4:31pm

You can now sign-up to be part of the closed alpha for Izle. The game will be coming to PC, Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One if its forthcoming Kickstarter is a success.

Area Effect has officially announced Izle now after we covered it back in October last year. You may remember it as being the colorful 3D sandbox action-adventure with low-poly graphics.

The good news is that the studio has announced that the game is in development for PC, Wii U, PlayStation 4, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360, and Xbox One. Last time, all we knew was that it was coming to PC and consoles.

The only downside of this announcement is that the game isn’t really confirmed for these platforms yet. Area Effect will be launching a Kickstarter for Izle this spring. So, presumably, the platforms the game comes to will depend on the funding the studio can get. And, rather than coming out in 2015, it’s said to be coming out in 2016 now.



Flipping it back over to good news again, the game’s website has now opened up for closed alpha sign-ups on PC, so if you want to give it a go sometime soon then drop your name down over there.

General : Izle's 100% Procedurally Generated Worlds Revealed

RPG fans will be interested to check out the new Izle trailer by Area Effect that shows of game play details for the "100% procedurally generated worlds". According to Area Effect, Izle is a sandbox action RPG that brings player choice and creation to the forefront but each not without true consequences.
During the game, players will be using 'terraforming' abilities to create adventure islands filled with dungeons, castles, underground mines, and more.

Each world/island will see its success or failure based on a player's decisions moving through the game world.
Area Effect has plans to launch a KickStarter campaign later this Spring to bring Izle to multiple platforms including PC/Steam, XBox 360, XBox One, PlayStation 3, PlayStation 4, and Nintendo WiiU.

General : Izle: Steam Greenlight Success & Playable Demo Released

Area Effect has announced the successful completion of its Steam Greenlight campaign for the procedurally generated RPG, Izle. To celebrate the big news, a playable demo for both Mac and PC has been released to give players a taste of what is in store when Izle is complete.

Key Features of Izle:

• Entire kingdoms and islands will be created or shattered based on your gameplay decisions. The landscape of Izle will reflect your actions in unprecedented ways
