Jack Black in.....Gulliver's Travels

The Arrested Development movie gets put on indefinite hold.
The Hobbit is in development hell and lost Guillermo Del Toro due to the ******** with MGM.

And yet **** like this gets made.

Why is this world so cruel?

I don't expect too much from a movie like this, but my Lord, the CGI was awful. I mean, the Ted Danson Guiliver's Travels (thus far) has better visual effects, and that was a 15 year old TV movie.

I know..it's not fair because this is a teaser. But in this day and age, 'giant' effects are not THAT hard to do. it's been done since the birth of cinema. how can you screw that up?

where did you see bad CGI?

the composition was very good. the colors and shadows matched.

dark b. it was pretty bad. like TV movie bad. the 'miniture' actors don't even look like there even physically there; ie looks friggin' cheap. (the 'giants aren't real' reasoning isn't enough) It just doesn't look tangible enough.

again, i didn't expect too much here, but this is like late 90s stuff.

Okay, I like Jack Black, but he has to be in the right roles. I loved him in Nacho Libre, but then I'm a huge wrestling fan and besides which it was (loosely) based on a true story. A straight up serious retelling of the story starring Jack Black, like the made for TV version with Ted Danson, wouldn't work. But a comedic version? That might work. I'll wait and see. I might not pay for it, at least not full price. I may go on half price Tuesday.

suprised noone mentioned 3D ;)

It's completely unnecessary, especially since not everyone will be clamoring to see a friggin' Jack Black movie in fake 3D. Narnia 3 and Harry Potter, yes since they're big event movies.

But this... this movie looks BAD. Who thinks Jack Black is marketable needs a reality check.

I don't like that this film starts out in contemporary times. I would have probably gone an seen this if they had written the story in it's original form.

I bet in the sequel they will have Jack Black in the land of the Giants.

I've said it before and I'll say it again: Nasty.

Jesus christ. I don't think even I can suffer through this one for Catherine Tate and Emily Blunt. Sorry gals!

This movie looks wretchedly awful. Easy, easy, pass.

I've always wanted to play Gulliver in a midget porno. Wait, maybe this should go in the make a confession thread....

They should have just made this an original(loosely inspired by) story instead of slapping the Gulliver's Travels name on it.

I kind of want to kick whoever wrote, greenlit, produced and starred in this in the face.

2/5

Funny in places. Flat in other places.

See it if you're into Jack Black, but otherwise find something else to watch.

PS. I think the land of the giants part was probably one of the most pointless and jarring interludes of 2010.

Going to see the movie soon. Not expecting the movie to be good.

At least I'm not paying for the tickets.

The actors slumming it for these roles must have really needed some money last year when they signed on.

I feel bad for Emily Blunt and Billy Connolly. They deserve better than playing second fiddle to Jack Black.

For the looks of this - and Jack Black - free si still not a good deal.

It was either this or Little Fockers.

Just watched the movie and it was horrible.
This movie isn't funny at all unless you like terrible jokes. It had a predictable story and the CGI is just plain awful especially the giant robot.
I thought the movie couldn't get anymore worse until at the end when the entire cast breaks out and does a musical dancing number to the song "War".
Man, I just felt sicken just thinking of that scene. Save your money and time and skip this crap. 1/5 :down

Little Fockers wins. It doesn't have Jack Black.

I believe you.

I feel bad for Catherine Tate. This being her first major American movie makes me a sad sad fan of hers. :(
