You can add a lot of apps and games from developers who don't care much for Apple's guidelines. You can also customize it to a far greater degree. The process of doing so may brick(cause it do be unresponsive) it, but the chances are slim. You should have the tools to do a clean reinstall of all the firmware at hand should it happen. Jailbreaking will void the warranty if Apple finds out.
