It seems that New Line's recent decision to push back the release of The Conjuring 2 to 2016 was to allow James Wan to make time in his busy, busy schedule and return to the director's chair.
According to Deadline, Universal had an option on Wan for more Fast and Furious films but they're going to allow him time off for other work.

At first, that's the horror sequel but WB have more plans for Wan. New Line exec Toby Emmerich said:

"James will make an important movie for New Line and Warner Bros or DC, and that is definitely part of the plan, and a reason for bringing him into the family. He’s the only overall director with a deal here, because we see him as a class of one."

Now, Emmerich would know a lot about what's going on at New Line and Warner Bros. in general, so this statement is from a pretty strong vantage point. Having said that, it was full of "or" logic and not "and." Wan may well be in the frame for one of the many, many DC movies in development, or he may not.

We may take into consideration that WB and NL Cinema are producing de 9 newly announced DC films so any of the movies except from David Ayer's Suicide Squad, BvS, JL-JL2 may be on his radar.

We will likely take into consideration this:

Which movie do we have the most nearer besides BvS, SS and JL?
Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Flash are the most "viable" options that made him to push back his latest film to be into directing a DC film if that happens of course.

In case he directs a DCCU movie... which one do you think it'll be?

Not familiar with his work at all, but for some reason, I think they want him for WW.

Shazam, without doubts.

Which make it on hype meter for me at 100 percent!

Wan is one of the most talented directors today IMO so this would be a huge get for WB.

Shazam is the only DC film in development at New Line, so...........

^^ Wrong... New line Cinema and WB are producing the whole DC film slate. ;)

I can see Shazam but then why pushing back his new movie? it has to do with Wonder Woman, Flash or Aquaman IMO.

Also Aquaman is the one that is being developed with 2 scripts by two different writers right?

Highly doubt WB / New Line has their director and their star for a movie 5 years away

And yeah doubt Shazam is the only New Line DC film

Where was it announced that BVS, Justice League, Suicide Squad, and Wonder Woman were also being produced by New Line? Shazam is the only one right now.

Yup.

Don't know if there is another... all the other Wb/Dc seem to be in house?

Now there could be new projects announced.

Not to say WB/New Line can't produce any of the other movies, but Shazam is the only known property being developed by them.

The Vertigo adapted movies have yet to be announced and maybe some of those could also be produced by New line. For now my vote is Shazam.

Is he that good a director?

Haven't seen anything he's done recently.

The Conjouring is an effective film that really wants to be The Exorcist. It is well made. Feels very old school. All around good performances. Some genuine chilling moments.

Check it out.

From the press release of Warner Bros.
And, in a massive expansion of the Studio's DC Entertainment-branded content, Warner Bros. Pictures and New Line Cinema will release a slate of at least 10 movies--as well as stand-alone Batman and Superman films--from 2016 through 2020 that expands this prized universe of characters:
- "Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice," directed by Zack Snyder (2016)
- "Suicide Squad," directed by David Ayer (2016)
- "Wonder Woman," starring Gal Gadot (2017)
- "Justice League Part One," directed by Zack Snyder, with Ben Affleck, Henry Cavill and Amy Adams reprising their roles (2017)
- "The Flash," starring Ezra Miller (2018)
- "Aquaman," starring Jason Momoa (2018)
- "Shazam" (2019)
- "Justice League Part Two," directed by Zack Snyder (2019)
- "Cyborg," starring Ray Fisher (2020)
- "Green Lantern" (2020)

I think its possible Emmerich doesn't overly know or care about the difference of Vertigo/DC and he could be up for a Vertigo film.

If I told you a horror director would be the director for Shazam would you all be like 'yeah that makes sense'? Idk I just don't think that's the case

Wan for Sandman now that I can see.

New line will work with Warner yes for... Shazam. Nowhere it is said that New Line is behind all the Warner dc movies ;)

Wan range is not just horror ( Death Sentence) and there is some wacky humor in his movies sometimes.... and we had Thriller directors, (Singer, Nolan) "Shakespeare" Directors ( Brannagh) "Kiddie" director ( Favreau)

How he could not know even with the big announcement of last week? I think he's refering to one of those slates and even more that he pushed back his latest movie. It's kinda obvious they want him for the near to release date DC films if he is directing a solo film. Another thing is why putting him in a Vertigo movie that has not even a release date. I kinda thing it has to be to DC.

To conclude this I need to tell you that being an horror director first doesn't mean that the only thing you can do is horror films. Also his tone would be good for Wonder Woman's greek mythology if you ask me.

Common man... I have shown you the PRESS RELEASE!!! It says literally..

At the time he had some under his belt (but not just that) and was seen by some like a kiddie director.

Labeling is stupid imo.

And new line is a small company. ( The Hobbit is the ecception) I don't believe it, until proven otherwise.

What else more official do you want than WB? Anyways there will be a lot of producers Dune Enterteinment may be the one that full them with money. But the important thing is that you can't say New Line Cinema is only Shazam, because all the 9 movies are WB and NLC.
