DC Animated - All-Star Superman

I loved the film, even thought key parts were missing from the comics. The film was very good, All the scene with Superman and Lois were very well depicted and I loved the character design used in the film.

the voice cast was perfect, Christina Hendricks nailed Lois's voice spot on she right up their Dana Delaney
Clancy Brown still holds the title as Lex Luthor mind you Anthony LaPaglia really could challenge him for the title.

James Denton's Superman was good, but I found his Clark Kent to be to much like Christopher Reeves.

This movie was a letdown. I don't hate it, but it failed to utilize the storyline to it's ultimate potential. And after the news of an animated movie had me thinking about the possibility of somehow turning All-Star Superman into a live action film somehow, atleast the basica premise.

When is the last time one of these movies actually aired on Cartoon Network?

The last one they did was First Flight and nothing new after that. But, that was shown January 2010. I'm not sure if they even showed WW on Cartoon Network.

They did show the WW one on CN, as well as most of them. But that's probably the CN we get. I remember watching New Frontier on HBO, it felt good :)

I haven't seen this one yet, recommendations?

More like they want the films to fit a 2-hour time block on Cartoon Network.

No it's the budget, I mean Bruce Timm has said so. The probably could make them longer on the budget they have, but then the animation will probably suffer because of it.

Yeah, they don't have enough money that would allow them to make a film that would be greater than 2-hour time block on CN.

Yes, because these animated films have a bottomless budget, so production costs don't play a factor in length.

The animation and art design were beautiful but I felt they really butchered the narrative of the comics.

they need to stop making movies that are already based on a comic book story! It's lazy story telling. They need to make more original storylines! That's why JLU was so great! That's why Young Justice is outstanding! These are fresh stories and new takes.....

Public Enemies was horrible....

The Supergirl movie was so-so.....

I am really hoping this is really good, even better than Under the Red Hood. I hope they even go beyond the 75 minute format to capture the feel and beauty of the story. I'll geek out if they nail Chapter 10, "Neverending".

REd Hood did not disappoint me.

So true. Plus, I guess as a bit of a DC fanboy, even the smallest of changes in adaptations really just piss me off and ruin the whole experiences. They do say fanboys are never satisfied but then again I liked the Watchmen Movie... *flame shield*

I agree with you. I'd rather have something original than just good (?) comics adapted on film.

And yeah Young Justice is indeed pretty good.

So I finally bought and saw this one.

It was really good, my only problem was the ending.

Did he really die? I know this was from the Grant Morrison series, but was that comic series in continuity? And if so, is there a sequel to the series where he returns?

I really liked this, but it was pretty depressing at the end.

So I just watched it... the ending wasn't depressing... infact it was quite uplifting if anything... we thought he died.. but then there's this feeling that he'll come back to earth again...

And now I'm one of those Harry Potter people, "why didn't they include jnduwhrf74jfj!?!?!" I really wanted to see that bandaged head Superman story.. oh well!

The book ties to DC One Million where Superman is still alive in the 853rd century so he didnt die at the end. I guess he needed to stay inside the sun for a while to recuperate. However one of the scenes that were omitted in the animated movie was the scene that ties it to DC 1 mil, so its anyone's guess what happens. It does feel like Superman died though.

Ah ok.

I like that it focused more on story rather than the action. Both Superman/Batman animated movie focused too much on creating gigantic action scenes I thought... I think the makers assumed that since we have already read the comics, we would have already knew the story and thus just want to see what it looks like when animated.

I saw this last Friday. I thought it was kind of boring.

Finally got this, and thoroughly enjoyed it. I never read the comic so it's a standalone movie to me, and it worked for me. Was more of a 'who Superman is' than a 'what Superman can do' which was great for me :)

The part with the other 2 Krytonians was a bit 'slapped in', but wasn't too bad - Overall, pretty darn good.

So, my Netflix queue was almost empty, so I decided to put this on and check it out.
Watched it over the weekend....keep in mind, I hated the comic series it's based on.

But....turns out to my surprise I actually loved this film.
