In the new's. Japan's Sekiko Yokisefron has commited to make a real, transforming car. The project will start in late 2008 and will end in 2010. SY says "This project could change the future of armys and the future of a persons life."

Sounds ehh, weird.

theyve been saying this stuff for a while now

I'm not believing this until they spell armies right.

Don't put faith in every little possibility or rumor. I'm still waiting for my Predator camo.

They already have Transformers to a lesser degree. I remember going to a monster truck show/drag night, had to be 10 or 12 years ago, where they have this remotely control truck that would fold out into a robot. It wasn't really camouflaged as a real truck or anything, it had no body panels or anything, but that was a decade ago and they're deciding to make a convincing one now?

Oh, and they have active camouflage now, it's just not that convincing and is super inefficient.

I saw a video the other day of a small toy car transform into a robot. It was pretty cool, but it was some japan revolutionary thing they were working on. If i had the link i would show you all.

Active camo...makes me think of Solid Snake and the Stealth option. :ninja:

Inefficient? What the hell makes it work?

Inefficient wasn't the right word, more impractical. It uses a camera, and a special projector. The projector's image only shows up on a special fabric. The camera sees what's behind you, and projects it onto you. The material thing is so that the effect won't be ruined if something else shows up in the path of the projected image.

It's fixed in one place, so it's not like you can go sneaking around in it, but it makes things fairly invisible (it's kinda fuzzy and the color's off a little) if they're set up right .

So it's basically a real-time green screen without needing to wear green? Interesting, if, yeah, really impractical.

Pretty much. My thought is that you could use it to camouflage fixed things, like a gun emplacement for the military or something.

I think this is a real video of it (YouTube is apparently filled with people doing it with green screen, and video of it looks the same).

Really cool 'magician moves' they got going there.

That sounds like it was written up by a five-year-old.

Japanese are great at making humaniod robots, i'm not surprised as the technology is already out there.
